Yes, I know there are a million other threads saying matchmaker is broken. This will make it 1 million +1.

I am hoping someone has some ideas on how to better fix Matchmaker and how to more accurately rank/rate players.

The problem for me is not the way the matchmaker pairs players during US prime time (5pm - 9pm US Central Standard time) but with the way the matchmaker pairs players every other time except prime time. Playing at 11pm at night or 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 12am (or any other time other then prime time is almost a guaranteed loss for those with a positive W/L and K/D ratio mech. It seems the higher the W/L ratio and K/D ratio a player has earned with a particular mech during prime time, the more losses and the more lopsided the losses experienced during non prime time hours for that particular mech. The better the mech, the more lopsided the loss.

I am actually a decent pilot and I have played a lot of games (scroll down in the original post in the linked thread to get to the spreadsheet):

I state this because there may be those who say, you haven't played enough to see something is actually happening or maybe the losses are because of you. I do not believe any of these things are true.

I have earned those stats playing mostly in prime time (the time I listed above) using the mechs I am really good in and despite the occasional lopsided loss during prime time, I often see that both sides seem to be decently matched overall. I can not say the same for times outside of prime time. It seems to be the complete opposite.

if both sides are somewhat evenly matched, ranked and rated, a skilled player can carry the team and have both stat categories over 1.

When I play outside of prime time (say at 11pm at night or 11pm in the morning or any other time outside of prime time - if I have the day off) my losses far outweigh the wins by a ratio of about 8 losses to every 1 win. These losses are in games that are not even close. These losses have games that it is 12-1, 12-4, or 12-2. Basically stomps. Not even close.

No matter how good a player is, there is no taking on a team of 10 to 11 other players. Bottom line, MWO is a team game and with a players stats are very much influenced by both his teammates and the other teams quality of play when playing random PUG games. This has been going on for a very long time now. Getting terribly stomped and losing terribly during non prime time hours.

Basically, playing at these times is ruining the game experience for me. No one likes to get stomped and everyone likes a chance. I fairly see chances and decent games during non prime time hours with good mechs. I personally would rather take a close loss then a stomp win. I dont want to dominate the other team (I like a challenge) nor do I want the other team to dominate my team. I just want close fair and fun games. I see this more often during peak hours. I am not seeing this during non peak hours when running good mechs.

1. Has anyone else experienced this (an incredible amount of losses overall and an incredible amount of lopsided losses during non prime time hours when playing a high (or at least a positive) K/D and W/L ratio mech earned during peak prime time play hours)?

2. Does anyone have a theory or an explanation of what is going on?

3. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix it?

Are you mostly restricting to playing usa servers? Tbh i am in australia so almost always playong out of us prime time and rarely see the issues you describe. Currently in tier 2 but spent a long time in tier 3. You get stomps but 1 in 6 to 10 games so not often.

Yes, Blue Phoenix, I had the same experience. My personal statistics are handwritten, so I can't present them here, but I needed "more than a feeling" to be sure about what was going on. Living in Europe and playing on EU and NA servers, but mostly not at US prime time. It came to the point where I knew that we'd see a stomp whenever I'd pick one of my favorite mechs. Then the matches became even more ridiculous, so (after some idiot hunted me down for his glorious TK) I stopped doing QP altogether. Since July it's CW only for me.

Had to do one QP match recently, because I unlocked one of those funny accomplishments, but you only get them by doing QP. It was as unpleasurable as I remembered.

I'm not sure if it's true that the matchmaker puts two groups together ("groups" seems more appropriate than the T. word) with the goal of keeping each players W/LR at 1. But if that's true, and if the global W/LR is meant, then the QP matchmaker punishes CW participants for taking part in CW. Kinda counterproductive.

How to fix it? PGI has to stop the futile attempts to balance the game and focus on creating a matchmaker that doesn't drive the players away. Because most players just stop playing MWO and find other games, they don't help PGI locate the problem by using the forum.
