Don't mind changing ominpods if needed.

I've got one but haven't got much time in it yet. Might try to squeeze into 25 for the mechbay, but i want to up my MLX-ED and SHC-MI positions first.
It looks pretty though

i'd go SRM and drop out light probe personally, or run the med pulse as a knife yeah.

still not sold, but that's 18 damage / shot at optimal range.
It's an Ice Ferret, doing ANYTHING on one of them tends to be a tough sell. It's not that it's a bad mech, it's just not an optimized chassis (quite frankly, it's over-engined, has no jets, and despite being an omni it is somewhat hard point starved). And often enough that's enough to tank the idea of using it. Compare it to an Arctic Cheetah at
Don't get me wrong, I actually like the Ice Ferret. Very underestimated mech, it's basically a Clan Cicada. But just about anything you could do on it is generally done better by another mech, it has an incredibly narrow niche.

Simple, you don't.
Quad srm4s, 4to of ammo.
5 er mediums. Hot.
4 meds, 1 er med or small.
AC2 and that's it.
Etc.
Also no, cicada analogue is bad. Cicadas eat ice ferrets.

I use 5 ER MLs on Ice Ferret and it is not that hot, especially if you skill up for heat management with your SP. I do pretty decent with it as well, commonly managing 400+ damage per match. The ER ML allow me to hang back with the second line at about 300-350m back where my ECM keeps most of the attention off me. It isn't great at actually making kills because I am sticking to second line support but I very often get 2-3 KMDDs with it.
I will say that the IF absolutely isn't a good mech though. CT is too big and easy to hit from any angle and the Hardpoints, even the ST ones are kind of low slung which means you have to expose alot of your mech. It also tends not to have enough free tonnage to load a decent amount of weapons and still be able to keep itself cool enough to use those weapons.
The honest truth is that it is way over engined. It would be a really good mech with about a 325 and 4 JJs but ground bound with a 360 just limits it too much and its ground speed doesn't make up for the lack of tonnage and JJs.

Yeah, only ran mine with 4x HML, 2x SRM4 so far, seems decent enough.

It's a 45 tonner. Not a 40, or a light mech.
It has the exact same base agility stats as the Mist Lynx, bar deceleration, which is twice the Mist Lynx.
It's base top speed is the same as a speed tweeked Cicada with an XL 300. (OK, 1 kph less)
It is NOT the clan Cicada, that's the Viper. It's just what Cicada pilots had to drive if they wanted to go clan previously.
It's a 45 tonner.
If you don't put anything in the agility tree, it's speed and agility are on par with the Cicada with an XL 300.
If you full into the defensive tree, then shave armour to hitpoint parity with a standard IFR, you can increase your pod space from 9 tons to 11.7 tons. You can steal a bit more from the head and legs to make it up to 12. It's structure quirks help with this. You are more vulnerable to crits obviously, but you are going at 129.6 kph, you can handle it.
12 tons is 6 MPL on a base IFR-D chassis.
11 tons is 5 MPL and ecm on the IFR-P or Rainbow Crow chassis. (I'd still keep the armour personally)
To deal with the heat, go baws deep into heat gen and grab the first tier of operations and you should be alright. You may have about 5 SP left over which can go to agility if you fancy.
The Rainbow Crow and the IFR-P can be a 45 tonner that goes 129.6 kph, with an C-MPL alpha of 35 out past 330m, with the agility of a speed tweeked XL 300 Cicada/base Mist Lynx, with ECM. You can get a 5 MPL build on a Viper-C , but no Ecm.
It doesn't need any agility/speed buffs, just pod space.
Did I mention it's a 45 tonner?
The Ice Ferret's time has finally come this last patch.
Ed, when I get a chance I'll post a pic of my IFR-D armour values if that helps anyone.

It's a backstab/flanking specialist. People ignore you, and you hit like a speeding Mack truck.

There are mechs on the clan side that do what the RC can do and do it better. It is so weight and hard point restricted that its just not worth it.
