The 6 SRM splat build on the IIC is a no-brainer, but what do you do with the other variants? I can't get them to work well. The A is particularly vexing since I do much better in my JR7-F despite superior Clan tech and the JR7-F's lack of noteworthy quirks.

I do great in my Jenner IIC-A running 6 SPLs. You have to get in close just like the splat Jenner IIC, but no ammo issues and higher top speed (usually). I've done 22 games with that build, picked up 43 kills and died 14 times (with 12 wins and 10 loses). Oh and dished out nearly nearly 10k damage. If you've ever run a Locust 1E SPL build or a 5-6xSPL ACH, then you should do well with this. Just earlier on Alpine (Domination), I swung around the enemy force and soloed a ACH, gutted a enemy Jenner IIC-Prime (missing an arm), and then slaughtered an Archer before I died (the whole enemy team came after me). My team pushed when the enemy came for me and we wiped them out, so my sacrifice was hardly in vane.
The Jenner IIC-2 I usually run as 4xERMLs, runs fairly hot but I've had some very good games with this. My Jenner IIC-3 is my odd duckling as it runs a pair of SRM6s and 4 ERSLs, I've been tempted to do something new with it, but I haven't decided what...

I am partial to 4MPLs on an XL300. It's almost an equivalent to the 6ML JR7-F. Slightly better range and damage even. You can try a ML build but its unbearably hot and the laser duration sucks.
But my best success was to mix 4SPLs and 2SRM6s on the IIC-3.

I do this with the other variant. It's working well with me :

A : 5xML + 16xDHS Never go to a brawl with that. It's very hot, just pick at 400 meters.

2 : ASRM6 + 4xSPL

3 : 2xSRM4 + 4xERSL
And that's it ! The Prime i run a 6xSRM4. Very standard build wich work well !

I was digging into the variant with 6 laser points recently and found that I really do well with 4 ERMLs and 2 HSLs. You've got decent "sniping" range which is great for harassing the enemy to cause a distracting or to scrape armor off with repeated pokes as the enemy sees you as low priority (most Jenners are short range so they underestimate those who work from farther). It obviously runs a bit warm so it's better to stagger your shots if you are in a prolonged engagement and make sure you only use the HSLs when they are able to do at least 80% of their damage.
