A "civil war" implies a conflict between similarly aligned units and allies on the same side. Like, Davion and Steiner during the Federated Commonwealth "Civil War," or Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon during the Refusal War...

...and yet, here we have a conflict between Inner Sphere versus Clans.

Phases 1 and 2 were more of a "civil war" versus this current "Civil War" release because you could actually attack a fellow Clan or IS House...as a Clan or IS House yourself!

Yep...and because of the 1 bucket "solution" to the problem of a dwindling CW population we can't fight among ourselves even if we wanted to. And so, Russ gave us the "civil war" tech, but in 3057. Alas. Minimally viable time frame.

The "civil war" is just a marketing term to introduce more weapons to a game that has massive balance problems.

i think it would be better if this civil war was structured abit diffrently,

1) chose 2 factions to fight(Example, Steiner / Davion)
2) seperate all other factions as ether ally or enemy of those 2,
3) draw a line seperating friend from foe,

this would allow IS + Clan mechs in matches,
Wolf could drop with Steiner(Wolf Players would have Clan Mechs)(Steiner Players would have IS mechs)
every month seperate the map in a new way to show the war changing as it goes on,

Well if PGI learned how to market the game and got their acts together, we wouldn't need to help them understand what a Civil War is and isn't. Until that happens...

-insert famous (infamous) line here-

Turns out "Civil War" was just a way to sell Madcat MkII Mech Packs.

Maybe at some point PGI actually intended to redo the FP system to enable actual Civil War events. But as we know, they didn't even get the stuff we paid for - weapon models and Mech animations - done properly in time for the release.

As for stuff like FP map resets, correctly integrating the new Clans etc... well, it's just another symptom of how little they care about MWO now, with MW5 about to go on pre-order.
