Next mech IS gonna be a Clan Light and with the whole MG craze going around, i wouldn't be surprised if it's the Machine Gun Boat extraordinaire Piranha.

If by "open up more dropdeck diversity" you mean "run more assaults" then yes. Clans already have a 25 tonner.

I think what clans need is a 60 or 65 tonner standard mech. There is a huge gap in standard mechs between the hunchback IIC and Orion IIC. It should have a humanoid profile too since most of the mechs in that range have oversized CTs/side torsos. as it is. The clans dont have anything like the black knight/grass hopper/thunderbolt in that range, the hellbringer comes the closest but only has tonnage to run laser vomit effectively because it has a large engine + no endos steel/FF.

This all the clan humanoid mechs within the 60-65 ton range, from most of the art the mechs gonna have the problems that ome with being humanoid (extremely tall, wide hitboxes, or protruding belly). And TBH if we want to pull from the heavy category we should get one or two 60 tonners since we lacking in thoses in the clan heavy category.

Right now we need to fill up a bit in the medium and light department, and guessing the next mechs is Piranha and Black Lanner in the clan lineup.

Laser vomit is exactly what those three IS 'Mechs are running, though...

if your ach or myth g can't keep up with the lct, then linebarfer at 115kph,viper, and ice fridge can keep it in med laser range easily enough. My locust does enjoy ripping myth g arms out of their sockets and beating them with their own arms.

As a light pilot a fast clan mech other than ach might be fun. 2c jenner still has enterprise worth ct hit box and most of those other lights are slow at 97kph. That makes my 120 raven 3l seem like the flash.
