Hello All,

I have been absent for quite sometime. But thanks to moltenmetal on youtube I wanted to give this game another go.

I was hoping for some help in setting up new loadouts and skill trees. I was hoping you might have some of your favorites for any of the mechs I have below

4 Original operation inception founders mechs
Fang Hero (dragon)
Yen Lo Wang (centurion)
The Sarahs Jenner
The hero Centurion that has a similar paint job to Sarahs Jenner
The King Crab
Highlander Hero(that bright Pink one)
Kintaro hero mech

I figure I can tinker with these mechs to get funds for things like the timberwolf.

Thanks for all the help!

P.S Also is there a skills calculator anywhere you would recommend?(I am at work away from the gaming PC)

Hey Robdillard,

welcome back!

As a Dragon enthusiast I can really recommend the Champion build of the Dragon with an XL300, GR /w3.5 tons of ammo, 2 ERLLs, Endo, Ferro and 12 DHS. Just drop the armor on the head to 12 and shave 1 point off of each leg.

The YLW is apparently very good with an AC20 and a SNPPC. I think theB33f and Molten Metal showcased the build.

For the other mechs I can't give you a recommendation since I don't own these mechs and see them very rarely on the Battlefield.

Welcome back, meta mechs blog has a good bit of guides for just about everything including skill tree, even though outdated it's a good start, for Sarah's I'd say dual light ppc/ narc :3

Also Sarah's is rarer these days then a escort in Utah

The Sarahs Jenner

This is a JR7-D (like the Sarah, which is why I put it here), HBK-4G, CPLT-C1 (the jumpy 4E 2M one), and the AS7-D.

Jenner: You may remember the Jenner as being a fast, unholy PITA. It isn't anymore. It got a stealth nerf to speed with the skill tree change, and it is much, much, MUCH bigger than it was before so it dies much more easily than back in the day. As far as new tech goes, I don't think there's any that is particularly worthwhile. MLAS+SRM's (or maybe SSRMS) may still be your best bet. I tried 4xERSLas + 1xSSRM4 + BAP, 300XL; but I changed it back to 4xMLas because the lower heat and weight didn't offset the lower damage and range for me. Your mileage may vary.

Hunchie: Here you can see some benefits from new tech. The LFE light engine gives the benefit of a clan XL engine (you can survive a lost torso), though with only half of the weight savings. The downside is if you lose both torsos you'll die, which reduces the value of the head energy slot. You could try a 2xRAC2(3.5t ammo) + 3xMLAS LFE250 loadout. Or ditch the 2xRAC2 for one RAC5. Or maybe try a Heavy Guass (though you'll need to use a STD engine for it). There's lots of things to try with this one.

Catapult: Again, new tech may be useful. 2xMRM20 weighs the same as 2xLRM15 and uses the same space. The MRM pairs well with the ER MLas, too. I haven't played this mech lately, though.

Atlas: can't speak to it, I sold mine a long while back.

I think the second Centurion you're talking about is the AH(L). White paintjob with an angel on the right shoulder, right? If so, it's an awesome mech. I haven't changed these mechs' loadouts from back in the day. What worked before works well now, I think. I use AC20 for both, +2xMLas for the Wang and +3xSRM4 for the AH.

The King Crab

My King Crab builds fill me with shame.

The King Crab works well with AC20's and all kinds of ballistic weapons: I have the KGC-000 with 2xAC20, 2xML, 2xSRM6, the rest is armor, ammo, heat sinks, and engine. The skill tree has weapon cool down and magazine capacity, skeletal density for armor, speed tweak in mobility, heat containment and cool run for operations, and radar deprivation for sensors.

That should get you started for the King Crab :)

The Catapult is fairly solid.

Stock engine build, "Bells & whistles" -> the latter is something of a glass cannon: Inner Sphere XL engines = death on loss of side torso, so you may want to hold out on that upgrade until you're familiar with the mech and avoiding getting too exposed to enemy fire .

Skills, Prioritize them in order: Sensors -> Weapons (left side) -> Survival -> Weapons (right side) -> Operations

pretty much everything you remember is no longer.. the game has changed completly...

while i still have a lot of original "OEM" mechs *some with oem builds still..

the game has moved on

youll find new weapons, new armor, new sensors, new equipment, new engines,

everything is different... Dont waste your bills on anything yet until you get a feel for how it works now...

Dont follow the meta bs either.. that changes what seems like weekly... and its a good way to corner your self..
Be dynamic, be a mechwarrior... be your mechs pilot

Hero Centurion with a paintjob similar to Sarah's Jenner.Cn9-AH (L)? Not a hero but a loyalty reward/annual reward mech.

For your four Op. Inception mechs... The 4G likes ballistics. Why not try screwing around with a RAC or 3, or try the Ultra 10 or Ultra 20?

Here's another great KGC-000 build: 2xAC20, 1xHPPC, 1xMRM10, LE325 w/3 heat sinks in engine, endosteel, and the rest is armor and ammunition. Spec the build for magazine capacity, cool down, and some range in the firepower tree. Then spec some armor/skeletal density in survival, and the rest of the skills are really up to you. Obviously you are chain firing the AC20's to avoid ghost heat. Ideally you are within 300m and blasting away with the HPPC and the AC20's at the same time, and it's not a particularly roasty build.
