The Day the Sky Exploded

Black and White Science Fiction Disaster Movie

With all the hype of real reporters at a military base, a rocket is ready to launch. When it does an accident occurs, sending the rocket off into space. The pilot survives. Only to learn that the rocket powered by an atomic reactor detonates. A swarm of meteors then heads for the earth. It causes floods and the causes the surface to heat up. With fires breaking out a solution is formed. The only problem is, one scientist goes religious and tries to stop the others from saving the planet by a massive launch of the world's nuclear arsenal.

Fairly good, a little slow in spots. Only one death portrayed when one dude get's shot.
