in anticipation of the release of the new IS assault overlord next month I would like to share some builds for the Nightstar and would like to ask you what you came up with. I will refrain from using any XL engines since I don’t think they will be viable.
I will start with a build emulating the popular Gauss Vomit on the Mad Cat Mk II with an alpha strike of 63:
9FC Gauss Vomit:
- LFE300 (51.2 kph w/o speed tweak)
- 3 external DHS (Cooling at 36%)
- 3 ERMLs
- 2 LLs
- 2 GRs /w 5 tons of ammo
- Max armor

This one is just a faster version of the popular MAL-MX90 build:
9P UAC5 Dakka:
- LFE335 (57.1 kph w/o speed tweak)
- DHS (Cooling at 50%)
- 4 UAC5s /w 10 tons of ammo
- Max armor except -10 head, -8 in each leg

This one is a "I don't know what to do with those hand actuators"-build:
9J CQC:
- LFE335 (57.1 kph w/o speed tweak)
- 4 external DHS (Cooling at 30%)
- 6 MPLs
- 2 LB10X /w 6 tons of ammo
- TC Mk II
- Max armor except -10 head, -8 in each leg

Looks like a bigger WHM-6R...:
9J Gauss Vomit:
- LFE335 (57.1 kph w/o speed tweak)
- 3 external DHS (Cooling at 49%)
- 4 MPLs
- 2 GRs /w 5 tons of ammo
- Max armor except -10 head, -8 in each leg
OR you could get more range with this, but it looks weird and like a random mix:
- LFE325 (55.4 kph w/o speed tweak)
- 2 external DHS (Cooling at 42%)
- 3 ERMLs
- 1 LPL
- 2 GRs /w 5,5 tons of ammo
- Max armor except -10 head, -8 in each leg
What I realized is that the hand actuators on the 9J really hold it back a bit.
What are your thoughts? Do you have any exciting builds, especially on the 9S with JJs and only upper arm actuators and the 10P with ECM? Please share!
EDIT:
9S:
- LFE345 (58.8 kph w/o speed tweak)
- 4 external DHS (Cooling at 36%)
- 4 MLs
- 2 UAC20s /w 6 tons of ammo
- Max armor except -10 head, -8 in each leg
Those are by the way all builds which are not mentioned by GMan129, the guy from MetaMechs, in his article on NGNG.net (http://www.nogutsnog...hp?topic=4453.0)
