So i was just reading at the solo-play changes, and i was wondering, how the **** does that work?

A T1 can only play with T1 to T2s, but a T2 can Play with those at T3, despite T3s not allowed with those at T1.

Doesn't that mean the T2 would be able to bring T3 in matches with T1 by association?

It could work if tier twos could either be matched in a game with tier 2s and tier 1s, or in a game with tier 2s and tier 3s. Don't know if it actually works that way though, and the preceding anecdote makes it sound like it might not..

i doubt any of it will make any difference at all, a key phrase in their announcement was that the system still relaxes their new rules if theres too great a wait, given the tiny playerbase we have, things will still resume as before, there just arent enough people for this change to make much of any difference.

What we had before will still be mostly the same now, might ge tlucky now and then on peak times but given the situation we had before i cant see how the matchmaker will work when it struggled previously due to player shortages, it still will now and ittl still just default to mix/matching anyone available.

As I understand it, the way matches are made is you have an initial seed player and everything is based around him as it builds the game one player at a time.

So lets say a tier 2 player initiates the Matchmaker to start building a match. It starts off just trying to fill it up with tier 2s. Then it expands. Whoever it slots in first, either a tier 1 or tier 3 player, it will then exclude the other tier from being allowed in. As to how it decides who to pull first, I imagine it just takes whichever player best balances the current PSR or mech needs.
