A few days ago I tried to play MWO and had this happen:

I log in, hit quick play, wait too long in queue, vote on map/mode, count down completes, I see the next screen that shows the winning map/mode, and then a black screen with no noise or errors. I cannot alt-tab out of the window (full screen or windowed), but I can see the other windows that are available I just can't navigate to them. I can sign out of my account and log back instead of restarting. I don't know what task manager shows for MWO's status as it is not visible in the window when I bring it up.

Any suggestions on where to start? I submitted a ticket, but the only fix I got was delete attributes.xml (which I did, but no change and it has been a few days since their last response)

Thanks

The following are check lists. Simply remember Windows or other software updates can have a negative effect on programs, but if I am understanding what you are describing, once MWO gets to the point where it goes from what map/mode is being used screen, the launch window that shows both teams do not show up but is blank/black and other programs that were running in the background can become visible but you are not able to interact with them?
  • Reboot computer /winks...
  • What are system specs?
  • When was the last time you played with no issues?
  • Steam or standalone?
  • Run MWO Repair Tool or Steam Integrity check 2x
  • Check Windows Update History and what was last update including Driver and Other Updates.
  • Roll back GPU driver
  • Do a complete GPU driver uninstall and install an older driver
  • For alt Tab to work another program needs to be up, ie browser
  • What 3rd party software/overlays are being used (Geforce Experience, AMD Adrenaline, Fraps, TS, etc) Disable/shut them all down each time before starting game while testing.

Oh yes, reboot was the first thing I did

Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 16299) (16299.rs3_release.170928-1534)
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.5GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM

Standalone

Used the repair tool

No windows updates since 18 March, problem started 28 March

Only thing I haven't been able to do is roll back GPU driver as I keep getting an error that says it is incompatible with my system, which doesn't make much sense since I had it on there before...still working on that

And yes, there were other programs up, hence my confusion on why I couldn't navigate to them with alt-tab

Not using any 3rd party software

What GPU is being used? If Nvidia GPU then some have reported issues with the newest driver, and depending on how Geforce Experience is setup it will autodownload/install it. AMD will do the same thing.

Did you roll back the driver or uninstalled/installed older driver? If rolled back, then do an uninstall and install of that driver instead.

Run in normal windowed mode instead of Full Screen or Full Windowed and test.

GeForce GTX 670

Looking at the date of the latest release that's around the time that I started having issues...Unfortunately I have tried both uninstalling/reinstalling and rolling back the driver. Both give the same results, though now I get a black screen with noises at map/mode selection, then picture again for the screen that shows the winning map/mode and then back to black/freeze.

Also tried windowed, no change.

I can play other games without issue.
