Ugh, first of all, Mercury 2 is a Medium. Secondly, that mech was made by the Not-Named clan. The pro-lore crowd would lose their minds over it's inclusion, and not in a good way.

ok i just have to throw this out there
i want a squirrel mech,, with a big fluffy tail
and a couple of ballistic slots that shoot acorns
and a big pointy stick in 1 arm that can work like a sword or to poke silly humans to get them to move out of my way
now while the squirrel mech does not have to have jump jets, it has to have great hill climb quirks
the big fluffy tail is an automatic ams system as it will bat missiles out of the sky
and ears, it has to have ears, this gives an automatic sensor bonus
just saying,, you all need to put a squirrel mech in the game,,,
theres lots of squirrels that play this, we would all have to buy the whole pack you know,,,
hint hint hint

Current Top 10 after 52 votes, which is of course still a rather small sample size.
1) Urban Mech IIC with 25 votes
2) Dasher with 23 votes
3) Commando IIC with 21 votes
-) Locust IIC with 21 votes
5) Piranha with 19 votes
6) Mongoose with 17 votes
7) Hollander with 15 votes
-) Raptor with 15 votes
9) Anubis with 14 votes
10) Spector with 13 votes

Some trends:
  • UrbanMech continues to be a community favourite
  • Top 5 are all clan mechs
  • IIC mechs seem popular
  • 25t weight class most demanded

Out of pitty, because they each have 0 votes so far i've added the:
Dart which probably deserves that.
Eagle which isn't bad, but just a worse Nexus (which strangly doesn't seem to be loved either) and
Falcon which is actually not a bad mech at all. Even has a clantech variant for the Wolfs Dragoons.

What's your favourite light mechs?

The biggest plauge are the Hollander voters. Pgi is not going to give it enough quirks to even think about not being trash and a waste of time and effort.

Especially since engine swapping has pretty much made the Urbanmech into a Hollander, only without absolutely crap hardpoints and with that gorgeous 360 torso.

The Raven or Firestarter are even closer as they're 35t. The Raven would be better at it than the Hollander because it's bsllkstic mounts are covkpit height and arm mounted.

Realistically a jumping 20 or 25 tonner would be the best choice for the IS. The Brigand might be the best choice, 25t and it's ecm variant has JJ but is an experamental variant so idk if it'd be added. But it'd be fun to have a pirate mech in game. (It's a pirate's mech for me!) Haha http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Brigand

Next is the Nexus for me as it has everything as well. It's ecm variant lacks jj but it's just as fast as a commando so it's solid. It's variant count can be augmented by Jackrabbits but maybe buffed so they aren't junk haha.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Nexus

20t jumpers aside from the Stinger/Wasp (Which should be the choice but HG) are kinda meh.

Cossack, good speed and hardpoints but lacks variants.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Cossack

Hornet, Basically a ball on legs. Mediocre speed and it's sts could be vulnerable but on a 20t mech thats not as big an issue.

Changing an Angel ECM to a Guardian does not seem like a big deal to me, at least not in MWO. There have been similar or imo even bigger changes like replacing C3-units, A-Pods, or LB-20Xs (because MWO does not support crit splitting).

But then, the Brigand would be very good with and without ECM. ...And without ECM, it probably gets better quirks anyway.

As far as light Mechs are concerned, this is one of the best IS options not just because of its performance but also because of its lore: Periphery is needed, and Pirates are fun.

I agree completely. The Hollander is the closest thing to an opposed addition for me. Granted, I said earlier in this thread that I'm not opposed to adding anything on this poll and I stand by what I said. The Hollander is just extremely low priority for me.

I've also updated my votes, and I seem to be pushing for 30 ton mechs here.

I added the Firefly to my votes on top of the Anubis and the Vixen.

Added the Snow Fox for the clans. The 2 variant might be the worst mech in game if added, unless PGI adds hardpoints at locations where there are no weapons at all. Seams an unlikely addition, especially since it's a quad on top of having only 2 variants available.
Further added the Spirit which isn't bad, but lacks variants.

For the IS i've added the Arctic Fox, which is the IS version of the Kitfox. It lacks ECM, but offers some nice omnipod combinations. I just don't like lights running ~100kph only.
Last but not least, i've added the Hitman. One of my favourite mechs aesthetically, but also lacks variants, even if those are pretty decent.

Further I've given the Hollander some massive hardpoint inflation, so it can serve as machine gun monster and/or big ballistics glass cannon. I've further added a totally made up version (BZK-M1) that can be used as either 3xLight PPC or Ballistics Sniper along with ECM. I'd like to stress that PGI, if they ever choose to add the Hollander, might go a completely different route, and the hardpoints on my mech specs pages are pure speculation.

Edit: Added the Cossack since it's been mentioned by TheArisen.

Don't forget to vote!

Added the remaining missing light mechs to my Mechspecs page

Clans:
Icestorm: I had to reduce it's original 300XL to a 225 Standard + 1 Heat Sink, because it would have been way to quick. Only one variant.
Mandrill: One of the most unique looking mechs, even if not particularly beautiful, but again lacks variants.

Inners:
Fireball: Again had to reduce it's engine size by downgrading it from XL to Light Fusion and adding a Heat Sink. 3 Variants with distinct hardpoints.
Kabuto: A 20t pure missile boat with only one variant.
Red Shift: Looks a bit like a modern version of the Stinger. Only 2 variants, but one with ECM. Both energy boats.
Sling: comes with 2 variants á 25t. One for missiles, one for energy, both with JJ.
Scarabus: Again too fast (so downgraded XL to Light Fusion) but the main problem is that it requires two pieces of technology we don't have. Triple Stength Myomer, which wouldn't be that hard to add, but also a Hatchet. They could turn hatchets/swords into an equipment that adds armor and agility instead of melee attacks. Making it usefull for brawly builds.
Falcon Hawk: Slow grounded 35t Energy boat. 3 Variants, 1 with ECM.
Garm: Slow jump capable Heavy Weaponry mech similar to Panther or Hollander in concept.
Gurkha: Extremely good looking close range fighter with a Sword and plenty energy hardpoints.
Talon: Long range energy sniper, without jump jets, but plenty of speed.
