The splash damage is pretty much irrelevant. So is the 90m minimum range. If you are firing a 14 heat weapon within 90m, you are either screwed or its a light mech running through your team. ER LLs are way more popular than ER PPCs for a reason.

Yeah the 90m minimum is irrelevant...until it isn't.

My only complaints is that the HPPC sounds like three sound effects going off at once; kinda dramatic.

Well, I kind of expect the sounds of capacitors overcharging a contained plasma/particle field to fire a burst of condensed badassery mixing with the sounds of the atmosphere ripping itself apart to let said badass through would sound dramatic

They do, but all clanners seem to conveniently forget about it when comparing PPCs, lol

They don't forget about it exactly. However, it is a pointless part of any discussion like this when the IS players freak out if someone suggests that maybe the HPPC should splash a little as well be it 12/1.5/1.5 or 13/1/1 because the splash is meaningless and needs to be 15 front loaded. Both sides are incapable of having a reasonable discussion about any of it with the liberal amounts of bias and hypocrisy on both sides.

Sort of. People cramming large lasers on the Dragon 1C would claim otherwise.

Except for the fact it is twice the weight, so cERPPC do 20 direct damage + 10 splash for the same weight of 1 HPPC doing 15 direct.

Now, I don't use HPPCs that much, but on the few mechs that I do I don't really care they had a slight increase to cooldown time. It just further cements them as the Heavy weapons that they are, so I use my secondaries while they are on cooldown.

Because heat gen quirks getting reduced definitely doesn't affect laser vomit.

And there's the Dragon 1C energy range + laser duration quirks that got yanked.

EDIT: And coolant flush too.

Didn't they also nerf coolshot? Won't that effect laser vomit?

Depends on the scenario, it definitely hurts laser vomit in a push scenario since you can't double coolshot in a push even if you are primed, but for trading it isn't really an issue.

Laser vomit only becomes a problem once the alphas got above 60. This basically limits the problem to a few, mostly clan assaults and heavies. Really, it speaks to just how nasty the C-HLL gets when paired with a set of C-erML, effectively doubling the ghost heat limit. I'm not seeing how this patch is in any way going to bring my Drillbringer back down to the level of something like my twin UAC-10 Ebon Jag. (Which actually sees a nerf due to cUAC-10 this patch.)

2x Clan ERPPCs require 22-26 DHS to run without pausing much for cooling off so in the PPC balance they are the worst of them all.

Which, thanks to 2 slot DHS, is something Clan 'mechs can do pretty well. The 50 ton Hunchback IIC can run 2 CERPPCs and 23 heatsinks.

Get rid of ghost heat system => get rid of HPPC main advantage…

Indeed. Good luck getting more than about 20 dHS on ANY IS mech with a half decent amount of weaponry.
