While the sale is running...

What are your favourites?
I just can't decide.

There is ofc. enough information and video material about the Roughneck, but almost all of it is with oldtech.

Preferably something that only the Roughneck can do since I already have enough other Mechs around its weight class.
3A: Boring Laservomit is boring
2A: Looks good, comes with XL engine (which is good, too) but ballistics + lasers can be done similarly well on a Cat-2K or Legend Killer, or can it? Is deadsideing and zombying that much of thing on the roughneck?
1A: Maybe this one then?
1C: Splat + ballistics, but 10 tons more than on a Bushwacker... but rather boring quirks.
Hm...

I like the 1A, mostly because of how awkward the hardpoint layout on it is.
It's like the biggest mess of all the variants and i like it.

Pretty sure i'm running a RAC5, LMGs, a Laser in the head and an MRM launcher Posted Image

I have a 2A build that I enjoy.

LB10X w/ 2 tons ammo RT
MRM30 w/ 2 tons ammo LT
3x Medium Lasers H/CT
2x LMG w/ 1 ton ammo RA/LA
11 DHS
Endo steel
Light ferro
280 LFE
max armor

I have had several 1000+ damage matches with this build typical performance sits at around 600ish.

The design principle is an endurance brawler with it's heat efficient weapons payload and excellent hit boxes this build simply out lasts it's opponent.

2A, for only one that has weapons slots in CT.You can run lbx20, Asrm 6 and 3 ML with STD engine, or take LTE, UAC,MRMs and add energy to spice up. Subnose ppc woud be good choice. Best thing about Roughnecks is their durability, and 2A due to CT slots is best in applying it.

3C and 2A. Sorry you find them boring, but they are what they are.

PGI has me so conditioned I try to do the opposite of whatever misery they have planned

when I first started I am talking like the first times I dropped I would walk forward seemed like
15 steppes and I would blasted in the face

and so it has been
ballistics challenge just means you will get tore apart in your MG mech and maybe get 100 dmg

Since MRMs got buffed I find that an MRM roughneck is very powerful.

Right now I'm using a RGH-1A with 2xMRM30 and 4xHMG with an LFE.

You can get consistently high damage numbers in your games. The MRMs generate alot of heat so you'll need to pick up 2 or 3 DHS. For this reason HMGs are a good secondary weapon system.

The 1C, 2A, and 3A are all great mechs, as is the Reaver. The ballistics on the Reaver are fairly low, but they're arm-mounted with a good UAC jam quirk and the overall massive durability of the Roughneck makes it less of an issue. 1C is great with the AC20/SRM4x4 build with everything high-mounted, but you do occasionally have convergence issues, even with the lower spread on non-Artemis IS SRM4s. The 2A WOULD make a really great zombie, but... the zombie playstyle in general isn't as strong as it seems it used to be and it's not like a Crab where you can just wiggle to spread damage. Still a great mech due to high-mounted energy and RT ballistic, plus general chassis durability and good hitboxes. 3A is... well, yeah, high-mounted laser vomit with some of the best durability in its weight range. Probably not as good as a Grasshopper due to that mech's jump jets, but you can really put in some work with the 3A.

Dual UAC10 Reaver is what you are asking for. Quirks make this one quite unique compared to other Mechs.
But I expect a nerf to it very soon.

Dunno about "best," but I picked up a 1C the day they came out for cbills and I'm enjoying the versatility of it. Even dropping it unskilled and with objectively terrible event grinding dakka builds, I didn't have any trouble getting results. So far I've tried UAC10+MRMs and LB10X+SRM4A for "normal" builds (before the event) and both were pretty solid.

I wasn't sure I'd ever find another heavy that works for me besides the Rifleman, but the RGH is quite fun.

Gonna be grabbing a few more of these guys.

Yeah, that's what's stopping me buying it.

I really enjoy RGHs in general. But you can sense the nerf hammer heading for the structure and UAC jam quirks soonish.

Thanks @ all so far!
I wasn't particularly thinking about buying another hero, so no Reaver for now, even if I agree that UAC jam chance is a quite mighty quirk.
If I would, I'd rather take an Ilja Muramets though,

Get the one with the 4 missile had points and one ballistic!
The 4 SRM6A + LB10 build is OP!
And its tanky as heck!

I was considering something similar, but why not a UAC?
With MRMs and lasers you have to stare and spread damage anyway, might as well double-tap.

Does it play differently from LBX10+4SRM4 on a Bushwacker?

Roughneck ermmm 2A, it is quite versatile with ballistic builds, and it can zombie (minor value, but hey 3 energy points along the ct is pretty nice.)

some favorites:

300 light engine
UAC20+3 MedL+2 LMG
fast and brutal

280 Standard
Heavy Gauss+3 ER Med
4 tons of ammo
Corner horror

280XL
2 Gauss (RT, RA)+ 2 ER Med
5 tons of ammo
Sniper elite

280-300 Light
2 UAC10 + ammo
simple and effective. until jams.

The other RGH's are good, I just really like the 3A because you can run the heaviest ballistic on it if you want, or run 2 good sized ballistics on a good location.
