For Medium mech: Trebuchet-7M.
For Heavy mech: Mad Dog, or Archer-5W.
For Assault mech: Awesome-8R. You can also try those 60-80 tube Supernova/MAD-IIC/MCII on the Clan side.

Yup this. Choice of 'mech is probably less critical, but mediums, fast heavies, and with clan tech also heavy lights.
Quick enough to move with team, and to relocate often to find firing angles.
Plus you don't waste 15+ tons of armour on a 'mech that's MO is to stay out of LOS -- optimal use of team resources.
For best results, don't think of LRM's as "long" range missile at all -- they're best used as MRM's with indirect fire. The 200-400 m bracket is your friend.

Hunchback HBK-4J
Trebuchet TBT-7M
Griffin GRF-2N
Clan Medium
Hunchback IIC HBK-IIC-B
Huntsman HMN-C / HMN-P
IS Heavy
Catapult CPLT-C4
Archer ARC-2R / ARC-5S
Clan Heavy
Mad Dog MDD-A
They should all give a good amount of Missile hardpoints, enough Energy hardpoints for TAG and/or back-up weapons and a fair few have JJs for easier positioning. Don't forget to equip an Active Probe!

War Hawk, Mad Dog, Summoner, Timber Wolf, Ebon Jaguar, Storm Crow, etc. Fast enough to flank in order to defeat the enemies cover, heavy enough to pack enough tubes to break AMS.
On the IS front you'll want mechs with strong missile quirks on mechs and enough missile hard points to make them worth the while.
Zeus 9S2, Awesome 8V and Stalker 3H are the best quirked IS LRM Assaults with boosted cooldown, velocity and spread. Cyclops Q forsakes missile quirks for 7 missile hard points.
Orion VA, Archer 2R and Catapult C4 have the best missile quirk/hardpoint combos, where as the Archer 5W just has a butt load of missile hardpoints.
For mediums, Kintaro 18, Wolverine 7K and Trebuchet 7M have the quirks and hard points. Griffins can turn far enough to get locks on whatever they are running away from and the Hunchback 4J deserves and honorable mention for LRM10 spam with 6 medium lasers as backup.
Also for LRMs, look into the Kintaro 19, Trebuchet 7M, Hellbringer, Summoner and War Hawk B, these mechs have (or can get) NARC duration quirks in addition to a boat load of LRM tubes. NARCs are every LRM players favorite tool, and chances are if you can land a NARC on the target you also have good line of flight for the LRMs. Flank aggressively, get locks independently, light up the enemy and turn ECM off for up to a minute, bring a NARC!

The supernove can take atms+lrms, i have a lot better results using 2x10alrm, 2x12 atm, 4 lasers (hml), ams (1ton ammo), bap, a little over 700 atms and lrms and some heatsinks with the biggest engine.
Not that bad against ams (normaly the problem by taking atms), with a little timining you can ams let eat your lrms and you can score with atms.
But its hot ...

Timber Wolf for Clan Mech, 4x LRM10A + 4x ERML. Or if you don't want being screwed over, you could hybridize with 4x LRM15A + 2x SSRM6 + 4x ERML, it also comes with a smaller shoulder profile if you find that as a significant advantage.
I don't know about IS though.

so an SCR because fast 5 of missile tubes and space for spammo + you can utilise the prime heads E for a tagger o just some packup pew pew. or youc an sacrifice a single M for 6E to have some backpup pew pew.
Personally if (which I never would aside trolling) run a lrm scr I would go with
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8183f39e6d49623
fast locks, also against ecm mechs a probe and tag. and some punchy 6 CERML for those 200m lrm dead range.
Also, vs emchs with ams, volley fire those missiles, while vs regular mechs chainfire them if you gonna have to face them for the screenshake. with fats enough locks youc an also poke, lock, volley and disappear. scr is capable of that. But as said by others lrm's aren't that much of a good system outside T5 and t4.

Don't go there.
Winning teams require weapons that deliver more focused damage, Mechs that share their armor, and pilots who can press the team advantage when it's time push. Dedicated LRM boats almost never do any of these three key things.
You'll be a better pilot - and more valued - if you use LRMs as at most a secondary adjunct weapon. But you'll be an even better and more valuable pilot if you spend all your tonnage on direct fire weapons that kill Mechs far more efficiently than LRMs.

6x lrm 5 (chainfire) beagle active probe & MKII engine XL300
or
Catapult C4
4x lrm 10 (chainfire) TAG & BAP XL300 engine
Very nasty mechs indeed.

Apart from obviously good Clan Mechs, there are also a couple heavily quirked IS Mechs.
