I have a Battlemaster 2C running ER Large Lasers.

On this 'Mech, the Skill Tree is set up to provide the full 15% range improvement. It should yield 776.25 meters and, checking in a Testing Grounds drop, it does.

This Battlemaster also has a Targeting Computer Mark I, which offers a 4% increase to beam range. From my understanding, Targeting Computers, quirks, and skills stack additively. That is to say, if I am getting 5% from each, then my total range multiplier should be 1 + 15/100 == 1.15. Until now, this has appeared to hold true. The theoretical range multiplier for my Battlemaster IIC should be 1.19, getting 15% from the Skill Tree and 4% from the Mark I. This should yield a range of 803.25 meters.

Checking in-match, it does not. The indicated range is 799 meters.

So where did the last 4 meters of range go?

Beacause in reality Tc1 provide 3.5% range boost and not 4. Just as like tcII provide 4.5 and not 5 etc...

Best regard

Was there a patch update that changed the stats from 4% to 3.5%?

https://mwomercs.com...oost-correctly/

*************
Upon review, their ingame stats does not match mechlab UI nor a standard calculator or pen/paper.

Base stats for isERLL 675m optimal /1350m max. BLG-1G 10% energy range

675m *10% = 67.50m but in mech lab that 10% range is listed as 67.51m. What sort of Canadian math are they using? USA has its own issues with Core Math (chuckles)

675+67.51 = 742.51 . That is not reflected in game though since UI is not setup to show percentages. But it may be due to PGI making sure scaling of weapon drop off damage is being handled properly.

Of course it is not being reflected in the max range
742*2 = 1484 but 742.51*2 = 1485.02

And I am not finding any notes indicating IS Targeting Computer Beam Range was changed to 3.5 instead of the stated 4. And they used plenty of percentages in the updates. Should submit it to PGI as a bug report.

That would still be wrong, because then the weapon indicator on your HUD would state "800" as it also rounds up and a multiplier of 1.185 yields a range of 799.875.

That depends on how their rounding is set I have seen many games where unless you hit the whole number you are rounded down... it is only a meter I would not stress to much . How often is a single meter an issue in this game.

It's significantly over the point where they round up.

I'm not really concerned over the loss of ~ 4 meters, but it does mean the system isn't working as advertised and it means you are getting increasingly penalized the larger the Targeting Computer. Either PGI needs to clean up the MechLab details on all of the TCs or they need to fix the underlying code so they apply the proper bonus.

There are a lot of unclear things they need to clean up best you can hope for it they add this to the list.
