Hello,

Would it be neat, we could program bot AIs? One can have offline small bots tasked or full fledged online control of entire team.

Couple urbies with racs unleashed on assault lance legs... Or arty bots dropping smokes behind enemy backs.

One could also have a tasked bots, like assault can control one light and assing pre-made action packages.

Here be robots,
Rusty

Look at the vip ai in escort mode.

Then ask yourself if pgi will be able to deliver anytjhing close to what you're asking for.

If we can somehow rip out the mainframe from turrets, rewire it into the VIP Atlas, and slap on a couple weapons... we can call it a day.

But for this endeavor, we'll need some proper tools... excuse me while i go get the screwdriver and duct tape.

A nifty consumable idea would be a point blank "arty strike" with a tighter AOE but also a brief duration (5 seconds?) that only effects enemy targets. The animation would of course be battlearmor leaping down and shooting for a little while before jumping away.

Seeing how we are in the 3060s nearly every major military and several prominent merc companies deployed battle armor it's even lore appropriate for any mech to utilize.

Russ called it AI though. He said it was their important first step in creating AI. Pathetic, isn't it?

Well pgi has proven they can't program a bot to follow waypoints without getting stuck on pebbles.

There's a song by aerosmith especially for guys lile the op wishing for full fledged ai bots. It's called "dream on".

Great song.

path following is a component of an ai its not a complete ai as there are no decision trees. the atlas cant even go around if there is an obstacle in its way. all it can do is walk to the next waypoint in a static path predefined in the map. if it could respond to incoming shots by torso twisting, or navigate around obstacles in its way, or use the team's intel to switch routes on the fly or fire back, then we can call it an ai.

calling this an ai is like putting up one wall and calling it a house.

Not really, "AI" in games are a collection of algorithms like that. Pathfinding is actually a pretty major component.

Complex dynamic AI systems doesn't exist in games yet as far as I know, it's all a collection of coded responses with some randomisation to suspend your disbelief.

Closest thing to "AI" in games that I've seen is that bot that beats the best players in DOTA and chess computers, but those things are more designed to simply find optimal play and not so much for seeming like they "think".

We'll probably see something like that dota bot with randomised mistakes and inaccuracy injected to seem human in future games, but they are still prototyping those things.

Interestingly, that dota bot also utterly faceplants in non sf vs sf mirror matchups. It can't deal with stuff like viper manual cast or any other strategies that abuse the currently weaker ai behavior that existing dota bots have.

I guess we need to define AI
I know I am not sure what you guys mean (since I am old)

they had computer chess way way back in the early 1980s and good luck defeating it
you see games are or where always designed to let you win no matter what skill level you picked

I mentioned chess because a computer can easily analyze out to 100 moves or more every combination of moves
you can think of and do it in micro seconds

anyone ever watch the PGI's masters challenge?

you guys are probably going cool we get to fight Bear Claw or Proton
I am thinking ok Paul what are you up to

I sure don't think Paul goes to work to watch Proton play
I am guessing he is either working on 1) balance 2) player bucket sys or 3) AI

I am totally guessing that Paul been working on AI for awhile
one way to develop AI would be to copy a good player??

in fact I bet most of you could not spot an AI Mech if you saw one

back in 2014-2015 ever see a Mech come out of no where and go no where
the whole time your going where did he come from and where is he going
and what the hell is that guy doing

I haven't seen those characteristics in awhile
but that's my take on the subject

only problem with that is you buy the other 3 walls and they dont line up right. and you have to buy two deluxe wall packs to qualify for the roof loyalty reward. did i mention the foundation is a swamp?

one of the walls gives you +30% heat insulation. You can also get add-on reinforcement walls that are generally thicker. And a hero wall that is like, way better than the other walls. You can end up with 7 walls!
