Ok, it's now officially two week till release to the Nova Cat, Osiris, Night Star, and Arctic Wolf. I know some are already salivating at the thoughts of destruction and havoc one will wrought on the unsuspecting Newbies.

So what are the builds one dreams about?

Mine:

Well, that missile boat is a good start:

x2 LRM 20, x2 ATM 6, and x2 Streak SRM 6 and a Heavy Large Lasers. The others, I'm not clear on what to make of them. . .yet.

Arctic wolf with 9xCSRM2s, or 8xCSRM4s, I suppose. Clans are getting the best 40 tonner with the Escalation. Soon they will also get the best 20 tonner as well. Poor IS.

Nightstar can do dual Gauss, but can't pack just two additional lasers in the arms due to its hand actuators plus 7 slot Gauss. It will not stand up to the MCII. Still, heavy weapons will be the way to go due to its lack of hardpoints.

Nova Cat will be a 5 ton lighter NGyr, without the laser heatsink quirk. It does have more energy slot for proper laser-vomit build--up to seven, to be precise. And Clans do lack a 70 ton laser-vomit mech. And unlike the NGyr, Nova Cat doesn't use FF, which means it will have enough slots to mount buttloads of DHS to cool the mech.

Osiris... a lot will depend on its size and quirks. A lot can go wrong, or go right. Either way, IS will have another 30 tonner that is not likely to make a big impact.

NSR-9FC will likely replace Battlemaster for 5x ERLL boating; all high mounts, better cooling, better shape for spreading frontal damage. Unless quirks continue to give the BLR an edge. Might also see it with 59-point Gauss-vomit using twin Gauss, four ERML, and a single LL, but I wouldn't count on that too much. You can get similar out of a Bounty Hunter II, it's just not worth spending 95 tons on.

NSR-9J might do 6x ERLL. Otherwise, single ERPPC with twin-Gauss to just eat the ghost heat with a large number of sinks.

NSR-9P will be 3x UAC/5 + 1x UAC/10 and will be respectable.

I'm looking forward to the NovaCat the most.

The extra space for heatsinks will indeed be awesome, and might make the heavy large lasers gathering dust in my armoury seem a little more attractive (I know some already love them, but I struggle with the cooldown).

The only thing i'm concerned about is the 'mini' factor. Load it with ER Peeps and LPL's, and it's a mini Warhawk C, with 2 fewer DHS. Load it with Gauss and Peeps and it's a mini Night Gyr. Load it with pure laser vomit and you can make a mini Supernova, with 3 less DHS.

Can't wait to get it and test it though. It's In my top 3 favourite mechs.

I only bought the Osiris, but I bought a lot of them, so I'll have a bunch of new speedy toys to die with sub-200 damage in.

Most of my build plans involve what firepower I'm willing to strip down to add armor back on.

I just hope the nova cat still keeps its amazing walk from previous games. I havnt been able to tinker with omnipod ideas or nothing, but I think I want to try running a 2ER PPC fist (but will probably end up just 2 large lasers instead) and a 3 heavy med group in the other arm. And then some smalls if I can so I have something to keep me from going up like Chernobyl.

Osiris 3D: 5 MPL (tonnage isn't the issue, heat might but whatever)

Osiris 4D: 6 ERML (calling it, best variant)

1V has awkward hardpoint placement, probably a sell.

2V is almost literally a smaller Firestarter S trading 2 energy for 2 ballistic. No idea for this one yet.

1P is just a smaller Huginn with +2 E points.

Sekhmet is also kinda derp unless you run 4 MPL and 2 LMGs.

Only really got the Osiris for having another light chassis. However, this was my absolute favorite flag runner in MW4... too bad it'll never see the same speeds.

I bought into the Arctic Wolf bundle and am excited for the possibilities available.

I think I'm going to take the Blood Kit and slow it down a little with a 250XL. Then I'm going to flesh out the armour and slap an LB 20-X and some Heavy Mediums on it. It should be fairly nimble, able to run around 100 km/h with jump capability.

As for the Prime, I think it will see some ATM use, for sure. We can swap torso Omni-pods around to get one with ECM and one with 3x Jump Jets, so mix and match should be fun for the Omni Mechs. The arms can mount various energy and missile combinations, so some quality load-outs should be possible.

Most excited for Orisis; laser vom (most likely erml or mpl, see what works best for me... or one of each).

Unsure about the nightstar; ... dear PGI please make hand actuators removable and I wouldn't oppose delinking gauss/ppc ghost heat either.

I bought it, too, but...
Especially at this comment, i have to ask: is it real, or a bug shown on the orderpage, that the 3 standard AWs seem to be Omnimechs, while the reinforce+hero addons seem to be battlemechs...oO?!?

Edit: Sarna.net is my best friend...seems real, due to the "history" of this mech!

Yuppers... Omnis and BattleMechs. I didn't go all in on the other two reinforcements, but you get the best of both worlds with this particular chassis.

I've got 12 mechs coming with Civil War: Escalation and I have no idea what I'm going to play and what builds I'll use. I got the Osiris because it was a cute little nugget that should be fun to zoom around in, I got the Nightstar because I suck at assault mechs and want to try to get better, and I got the Arctic Wolf because I like medium mechs and it looks like it'll be a good 40 ton clan medium.

I think I'll probably stay in my comfort zone with the Arctic Wolf to start, then try out some Nightstar builds after people start posting decent builds, then pop into the Osiris just to fool around.

It's more likely than my dream of a combined arms MWO.... So I'm not going to judge.

I bought the Nova Cat because I represent Clan Nova Cat, but being a medium pilot, the Arctic Wolf interests me the most. 9x SRM2 builds, or 4xASRM6 ECM could be entertaining on a 40-tonner.

Because I am a sucker for all marauder family mechs, I bought the all the nightstars except the hero.

9P: 4xAC10(5t ammo) - 285 LFE(48.6KPH) - 0 DHS
9J: 3xHPPC, 1xAC10(2t ammo) - 285 LFE(48.6 KPH) - 6 DHS
9FC: 2xPPC, 2xAC10(3t ammo) - 335 LFE(57.1KPH) - 4 DHS
9S: 2xSNPPC, 2xAC20(5t ammo) - 285 LFE(48.6KPH) - 4 DHS
10P: 4xAC5(5t Ammo), 1xHPPC - 260 LFE(44.3) - 3 DHS

can not wait for the Nightstar. Gonna try UAC10 laser vomit build on the FC.

Really tired of all the IS whining all the time. I enjoy my IS mechs quite well and when I play with them, funnily enough I do well. How is it they suck so bad, and yet are just fine?

Clan SRMs just don't punch/feel as good as IS SRMS, but it will be fun to try a srm2/laser build on the Artic Wolf

Clan mechs perform better but there's more variety on IS mechs and since QP has bads in every tier you can always do okay with just about anything.

A 40 ton Clan Assassin with CXL and 1/2 weight missiles will be fun.

MAL-2P does it better. Try it there. It was way too hot before the heat buff to isUAC/10, but now it's workable. Gauss-vomit is better, though.

Because QP is filled with players of wildly different levels of ability. The deficiencies get masked. That was true even before Clan tech.

I suspect the Nova Cat will be worse than expected given the Night Gyr already does Gauss vomit and will simply do it better than the Nova Cat (though the Nova Cat will be better for pure laser vomit I don't think it will beat the Ebon Jag at it).

The Arctic Wolf may give the Assassin some competition for fast missile boat though, despite the fact the fast variant lacks JJs.
