1) Pouncer
Variant details see
here
I can't really make up my mind here.
The
Griffin IIC would be an excellent brawler in the vein of the Assassin or Arctic Wolf reinforcements. I'd buy it. No question about it. But for now I'm quite happy with the Arctic Wolf. Or hopefully will be.
The
Phantom would be another light mech trapped in a mediums body. Quicker then any other Clan light before. And comes with ECM. But since PGI turned the Ice Ferret into one of the ugliest mechs in this game, and the Phantom would look pretty similar, I just can't get myself to want it.
That leaves me with the Pouncer. While it won't be competitive, it would add something new to the game. Same speed as the upcoming Arctic Wolf Omnimechs, but more build options.
2) Shadow Hawk IIC
Variant details see
here
Has nothing to do with it's Inner Sphere brother since it doesn't have the trademark shoulder mounted ballistic weapon. It actually doesn't come with ballistics at all. But unlike our current 45t clan options it would be a good brawler and laser vomiter. Unless PGI limits it to the stock engine size, which I wouldn't expect it would bridge the speed gap between Shadow Cat and Ice Ferret.
The
Mongrel would also be a good compromise between Shadow Cat and Ice Ferret, but I rate the Shadow Hawk higher.
3) Conjurer
Variant details see
here
Decent hardpoints and higher engine rating than anything we currently have in the 50t clan bracket. Jump jets and high torso weapon mounts make it a pretty good deal.
4) Vapor Eagle (Goshawk)
Has been announced! See official variant details
here
5) Vulcan
Has been announced! See official variant details
here
6) Stealth
Variant details see
here
The Black Jack covers ballistics, the Phoenix Hawk covers energy, the Vindicator covers being awful. If PGI inflates the missile hardpoints on the Stealth it would cover missiles, at the same speed as the Phoenix Hawks.
I'd of course also like to see the
Hatchetman but as long as there is no concept of 'how to add melee weapon equipped mechs into the game' there is not point. I do have an idea how to add melee weapons, without adding actual melee combat to the game, but that's a story for another day.
7) Raijin
Variant details see
here
With so many 50t IS mechs already in game it's hard to find a niche that isn't occupied by another mech already. So why the Raijin? Hardpointwise it's a bit like the Trashbucket, but with JJ on all variants, high weapon mounts, ECM and last but not least Triple Stength Myomer. Cool huh? But what's Triple Stenth Myomer?
Takes up 6 critical slots, weights nothing and increases speed of the mech when the mech exceeds a certain heat limit. I'd just hard-wire the 6 slots like Endo-Steel/Ferro-Fibrous on Omnimechs onto the mech and increase speed like MASC when the heat is above ~50%. Subject to balancing ofc.
Starslayer would make a good energy sniper with it's high mounts and the
Huron Warrior would look glorious.
8) Wraith
Variant details see
here
This was between Wraith and
Lightray. Both of them come with a 385 engine rating, so I'd limit both to have at least a 330 engine installed. That would give them their own niche in the 55t segment. I went with the Wraith because it has JJ, and I'd actually give one variant ECM instead of the Improved C3 Computer unit, but keep the hardpoint number low on some variants, so it's used as intended.
9) Lynx
Variant details see
here
Since I am a big fan of the Sparky, I feel there is a need for a 55t energy boat with jump jets for CBills. On top of that the Lynx has rather high weapon mounts too.
From a nostalgia view-point I'd also like to see the
Dervish. Could be an awesome brawler rivaling the Griffin. But since we already have the Griffin, I gave the Lynx the nod over the Dervish.
10) Men Shen
Variant details see
here
A 55t Omnimech that looks like a raven and comes with the same engine rating as the Stormcrow. Decent hardpoints including ECM and fixed MASC and BAP. Endo-Steel, Double Heat Sinks, 330 XL, high weapon mounts, no lower and hand actuators. It will be fragile, but I still dig it.
11) Griffin IIC
Variant details see
here
It should actually be called the Assassin IIC. I originally didn't want to list this mech in my personal top 10, because it's rather similar to the Assassin and Arctic Wolf in what it can do. But now that the Arctic Wolf was released a year ago, and is still my favorite mech in game, I can't no longer ignore it. Griffin IIC would be great!
12) Hatchetman
Variant details see
here
I know it's probably never gonna happen, but I've always liked this design. Instead of adding melee, PGI could equip the Hatchetman with nice bolt-ons for the Axe/Hatchet. That leaves the Mech 3tons short, but it requires some hardpoint inflation anyway, so adding 2 HMG+Ammo, or 3xML, or MPL+ML instead of the Hatched would also make it viable. Further I believe that the Battletech game would be happy to get Melee mechs like this one.
