They should alter their map cycle genreator by selecting the maps first, and the the game modes.
I don't care enough about Escort or Incursion to sacrifice maps like Canyon.

What they really should do is ditch the map choosing screen entirely. Just make random, and save us the 20 seconds till drop time. (And if you really want to get to the nuts and bolts of it, random map generated first, mode second)

Nobody wants to play Incursion and Escort anyway.
Canyon is currently the best map in a game, just because it has most optimal size (no bias towards faster 'Mechs), best snipe/brawl ratio (both are equally possible, enough cover), best variety of tactics - fight can possibly happen on every single inch of this map in opposite to new maps, where 99.99% of space is unused. Also faster matches (in terms of time, wasted on WalkWarrior Online) - mean faster player rotation = less problems with matchmaking.

This. I remember the times, when we could choose map mode and especially in conquest, we had lots of fun and allot of players did know how to properly play on Canyon.
It's the most tactical challenging map in the circle, if you get it. One good thing about it, it is highly convoluted and breaks off many figth's into smaller ones. That's far more fun, as always to blob through the hole map.

I like Hellbore too and would love to have it in the QP cycle.
Sadly Hellbore springs is designed around Faction Play. It'd be a hell'va lot of reworking to make it so that teams have more than two ways to meet each other.

I would cut the landing zone in half, lengthen the hill in the middle between the two doors to do that, put 5 capture points inside the perimeter, both spawn points with the same distance to the middle, done.

But how else will you try to push for the least liked game modes to be played, if not have them show up more often? I agree with you though, it doesn't support every map so it makes maps appear less of which is not a good thing.
Which is a shame, because I like Escort. Long as the VIP doesn't go full derp and get stuck...
