With the upcoming new bolt on geometry coming to the game, I would like to see flood lamps or spot lights added to the list. Basically flashlights for our Mechs. These bolt on lights would have an illumination range of 150 meters, and would illuminate a small area when whey are traversing night time terrain.

I would like the one on the shoulder of my Warhammer to actually work.

A spotlight would be awesome on my K-9, make it into an official city unit then.

really with some of the led emitters out there today there is no reason a light would have to be that large. i always assumed it was some kind of phased array radar or flir or something.

Right. New idea; make it a Wave Motion Gun that can oneshot the enemy team. They can't sue that!

The one on the Warhammer is supposed to light things up ~5km away. Know a searchlight today that can do that?

The Luxor Sky Beam can be seen over 275 miles away. I bet you can do some spotlighting with that if it wasn't aimed straight up.

theres a subset of humans out there that build led flashlights that could be banned by the geneva convention for their uncanny ability to blind people and instantly ignite foliage. and its not like they dont have a thousand years to improve on the technology.

We've been asking for functional searchlights for a looooong time.

Apparently, non-cosmetic lighting effects are considered right out. Which is a shame. I'd honestly rather have a light than nightvision on many maps.

I saw vids of people making led lights that cant be lit for long before everything melt. Its cool but when you need a backpack of heatsink with fans and batteries attached to the small array of leds and you have to hold that in front of you... its not as cool. Still, id like to show up somewhere with that and casually say, "want me to light your way" and just fkin make a kilometer bright as day.

Well, let's face it: there are much more important things we need to make our mechs look more intimidating. Alone for the Urbie we need blinking red ball noses, bunny ears, tiny propellers on the head, big glasses with fake eyebrows and a big nose with a mustache, a mustache without the nose and glasses, a much bigger mustache without the glasses, a monocle, a top hat, fedora, cowboy hat, cowboy boots, cowboy boots with spurs, truck nuts, angel wings, a halo, that classic arrow through the head gimmick, a baroque wig, devil horns, a cape, a giantic fluffy squirrel tail, and of course a kilt. After that's done, maybe flashlights.

EDIT: added truck nuts.Thanks, LordNothing.

Not going to happen. First, we'd use it to brawl/blind just like a rac5. Two seconds later someone will macro it to become a strobe light, the op/nerf comments would dominate the forum and someones mom will be upset and not take responsibility after they let their 10 year old spend 24 hours straight in qp before succumbing to a "strobe" induced seizure.

Turning it into a strobe light would literally be the first thing i do because i'm a horrible person. On the other hand, it might as well be a signal flare that says, "Hey, toss all your ammo at this light... i'm right here." So it can work for and against you.

The effect could be toned down so it couldnt be an effective blinder (think master chiefs helmet light in halo, hardly a blinding beam) but still from first person it could light up the view. I think it would be an amazing effect too, I think MW4 had similar lights and they were amazing looking.

I think flood lights and some kind of banners would be the best.

Question (to anyone): Who knows morse code and if lights get added, will you be able to understand it if i start flickering at you?

Another communication line for those that don't feel like using VoIP and just want to listen to music or whatnot.

Example: -... ....- (B4)

Now the confusing part is that can either mean that there's something there or let's move there.
So let's say something is there: -... ....- .-. (B4R) What's the R for? Well, what do you use R for? Targetting. Grid, Target. Now this is probably going to confuse 99% of you, but you can't say i didn't try to communicate!

After floodlights/spotlights i think i'll be pushing for sign language for mechs with hand actuators.

Yeah, no can do... Bolt-on / custom geometry will not aim to be offensive or defensive, or alter a mech's stats in any way.. and spot lights would blind people and make nightvision useless... not that half the people in a team ever use it.. but there are those of us that do..
