Nova Cat And Lrms?

Because I don't buy mechs with real money I haven't been paying so much attention to new mechs, but now I looked and Nova Cat seems intresting. 70 ton omnimech with fairly low but good enough engine, fairly similiar to Night Gyr, except it has only endo structure, not Ferro armor, so it has relatively good amount of tons to use on weapons, expect it won't be so slot limited like Night Gyr.
And it has the option to take 6 missile pods like Mad Dog, except it has a lot more tons to use unlike Mad dog. I tried to calculate how much it could take and I think Nova Cat could run 6xLRM15 with adequate amount of ammo.
What do you think, will it be popular mech, and will people use it as LRM boat much?
I think it's significant "upgrade" over Mad Dog and while one Night Gyr has stock config of LRM boat, I think Night Gyr is fairly uninspiring with LRMs as it won't have enogh hardpoints to take other weapons along.
I'm fairly sure the most popular escalation mech will be Nightstar no doubt.

They are already planning a nerf for it. So sad.

As an LRM boat, I don't think it will be good. There's not enough backup weapons and it will have similar problems to the Night Gyr LRM boat. But it will be something people will complain about indefinitely.

Also, guess where all 6 LRMs will be? Take both of those arms and you're made into a 70 ton pet. Or just LMG crit all your LRMs.
I now have the sudden urge to be taaxic and boat MGs to do just that.

LRM boats are bad in general... I for one will be removing most if not all of the LRM from that variant. If you want missiles on a clan mech as a primary weapon use ATMs.
LRM boating Spirit Bears make me want to TK if they're on my team.

I think anyone who buys any of the mechpacks is more than entitled to run any config they see fit. Despite what too many people, I think most players take loadouts that works for them. People ridicule players doing poorly with LRM mechs, not realising those players are generally inexperienced and not so good anyway.
And being an omnimech Im sure people will experiment with it. It doesn't have the highest flexibility of omnimechs as most of it's hardpoints are in arms and it has limited ST hardpoints, but it has good tonnage for weapons as heavy and pretty nice set of
hardpoints.

Then you are in luck, as Nova Cat seems to be good platform for ATM boat as well, spesially when taking those JJ pods.

If it will be able to rock LRM70 or higher, with adequate ammo and secondary lasers.. I'll definitely pick one up.
What is kinda sad though, is that if Nova Cat ALSO turns into a premium LRM boat like the Supernova did, the term "nova" which used to mean "epic level laservomit" will now change to mean "Holy God It's raining LRM, I can't see the sun"..
Kinda sad really.. but could be fun.

Doesn't mean they should LRM boat. No one should lrm boat.

People will never get more experienced or better by running LRM boats. It's why there are still ****** players in tier 1 + 2 as LRM boating works in the beginning(because noobs are noobs), but it's effectiveness lessens as those LRM boats get matched with more experienced players.

You mean like the Nova Cat-B, that comes stock with a half dozen LRM15's and 10 tons of ammo?

Well, there is your proof that it would be better to go with 4-LRM 15's and fill there rest up with heat sinks and a spare weapon or two.

I tried it once and I was like "this is stupid!".
Considering the only real reason and fun to use it was fundamentally altered, it doesn't really matter either way I look at it ; SB is dead in the water. Now I know how Highlander pilots felt after the jj nerf.

And that's not even counting the skill tree, when you take both missile racks and keep those 10 tons you get an additional 2 tons worth of ammo (360). If you ever wanted an LRM boat in FP, this is it. Set up a chair and sip some strawberry sunrise as you watch the fireworks fly.

Like, say, a pair of ER medium lasers and 16 double heat sinks?
because it has those too.

Lol.
Personally I'd swap out the LRM15s for 10+Artemis, tighter spread more ammo efficient.
you know if I was going to turn the Nova Cat into an abomination.
