one thing that might be a issue is maintaining a balance, the actual rewards for each faction need to be similar in some respects otherwise you are liable to get a whole host of players pick one specific faction over the others due to a perceived advantage wether that be a bonus somewhat on pilot stats, equiptment etc.

Eve online at one stage suffered this issue net result was a LOT of pvp focused players rolled one pertic faction because of the stat distrubution and it resulted in one perticular planet in the game becoming the main game trading post, which since has caused and at times still causes lag due to the vast number of players in one place, speaking of lag, i'm curious about the combat system in relation to planets, are the "matches" for fighting for control of planets etc going to be instanced (hosted on a slightly seperate server) to reduce the possible issues of latency due to large numbers of players/connections? are there liable to be upper limits on the number of mech warriors involved/battle? will there be stratigic objectives within each match IE say pilots are fighting on a planet which has a mech factory one of the objectives to be capture the factory intact etc, starport (maybe allowing for additional units to be "hot dropped" onto the planet as members of their forces drop due to atrission?) drop ships? allowing some additional reinforcements spare mechs etc to be deployed, maybe destructable/defendable, and will tech like the C3 master and slave units, arrow 4 missile system etc also be included into the game?
is thermal imaging, and mag res also likely to feature in the game? :)

also with things like the pilot training is it going to be a level based system (I hope not :) or a real time training system (please :) )

also what about solaris? one thought i've had is make it predomantly for the lonewolf players with mercs also being able to compete to some degree but faction players not allowed to play on solaris, this would allow lonewolf players to gain (LP maybe?) C bills and access to equiptment they might not be able to gain access to, mercs having access to this would allow them to gain additional cbills (maybe while not under contract) a lesser rate of LP for diff factions (ie gaining reconition etc) for their merc corp etc, and faction players unable to fight on solaris (generaly most of the story books, least the classic ones, the great houses dont generaly approve of their house military competing on solaris, partly due to the issues of erm incidents between overly hostile units within houses to other units within other houses....)

I don't think Loyalty points should be awarded for Solaris fighting. On the gameworld it's all about the money and the fame, but I don't see that fame should directly translate to Faction loyalty. Maybe even the opposite, where house units think you are really just a poser out for the riches rather than a genuine soldier.

I think there should be an option to pay a tithe to your faction and declare that you are fighting in your factions name as a means of gaining loyalty points if you want to. Just a thought.

Youhave raised quite a few interesting ideas and I'll be addressing more of them later.
