Osiris - Kind of a bog standard, run of the mill 30 ton IS light. Nothing that really stands out but not a bad mech either.
Arctic Wolf - Kind of surprised with this one as I thought it would be underwhelming, especially the omni version due to the small engine cap but pleasantly surprised. Comfortable level of speed, comfortable level of agility, comfortable amount of firepower. Ironically my favorite build doesn't use ECM.
Nova Cat - My first impression it the basic pack leaves a lot to be desired. You have a choice between energy, more energy and even more energy but nearly any build that uses up the mechs entire free weight on an energy build is too hot. Most what i think would be a good overall build ends up woefully under-tonned with 5-10 tons unused. I think to get any really good use out of this mech, you need the omnipods from the reinforcement pack which means it is gated behind the paywall. On the one build I came up with that seems fairly optimal, the mech performed well enough. It is a little slow but has good enough agility that you don't really notice the speed and it tanks damage alot better than I though the geometry would allow.
Nightstar - Alot more average than I expected. Decent hit boxes, slow but with enough agility you don't really feel weighted down and sluggish despite the top speed. Decent but not really great firepower. Overall a very OK mech at least the basic pack variants. Overall I am not a fan of the arm adjustments however. I find it very hard to corner poke with the mech and would have perfected the lowered arms so that the mech had a more compact stance. I expect the best variant of this mech is behind the paywall.
So those are my impressions, at least with access only to the basic packs. How do you guys feel?
Only own the Arctic Woof, and have limited actual play time in it.
Ran it unskilled in the on the Practice Tourmaline. Liked how it handled even with out skills. Have run the ACW-1 and P live so far, and while a bit delicate (it is a 40 tonner facing a buttload of heavies and assaults) it hits hard and dances nice. Used the 9xSRM2 load in my ACW1, and laid out just under 600 dmg with 4 kills, 4 assists in my first match. If I wasn't so out of practice and rusty on my combat awareness I would have paid better attention to the ammo stores, as I would have added a 5th kill, but ran out of ammo just as I got to the Final Novacats. naked butt. Fortunately he also ran out of ammo and we had blown off his only Energy weapon, so my one surviving teammate was able to finish him. Just sucked to be alive and out of ammo. But still even with poor fire control and awareness, to last til the very last moments of a tight hard fought match, says with some practice the ammo load should be fine. Love how fast my SRM pods cycle.
The P has a "me" build, but it's hard to gauge as our side got stomped because like idiots the main body parked instead of pushing and we got crushed in a nicely done assault pincer. Only positive is I still accounted for one of our whopping 2 kills that match. *SMH*
The Osiris seems to be a fun solid ride, my teammates in them LOVE them. If I wasn't so put off by the horrible tiny CT making the Not-Osiris look so terrible I would definitely run em.
Nova Cat model looks way better IMO than the art did, even if the arms a skosh low. Still lots of firepower thought the arms pop easy. I wish I had gotten these now.
Nightstar? Have been as underwhelmed by the ones I have faced as I was by the art and the model. Still, it's early, people haven't settled into the various builds yet, etc, so a lot could change.

What are you running? All I've seen suggested for builds really is the typical GR boats, the ERLL spammer, and LB40-X Dual SNPPC.
NSR-9P:
4x UAC/2 + 2x ERLL on an LFE 315 is good. Runs cool enough, mixes the benefits of both an MX-90 and a BLR at the expense of speed.
3x UAC/10 and a pair of MedLas deletes 'Mechs, if you can find a team to fight and push/receive with you instead of turning tail to
Still need to try the AC/10 build.
NSR-9J:
Alternative Gauss boat trades full Gauss for LGauss and runs 3xERLL and 3xML for its energy complement. Go full expose at extreme range and apply pressure, stay off the MedLas unless you need them. The 9S with two full Gauss and three ERML is better, but this one is entertaining enough.
NSR-Hero:
Have yet to drop in it, but I have it equipped with 3xLL, 1x ERML, and 4x MRM10 with the 345 LFE. That's a 72 alpha out to 450 meters and it runs cool enough with 18 DHS.

PS: Don't stand near Nightstar's especially in front of one if you like your back armor.

The AWolf seems like it's a touch squishy but makes up for it with firepower and speed.

The walking animation of the Nova Cat also looks kinda silly. Like a sailor in a storm trying to hold balance.
I think that was the last time I threw money at PGI for listless designed mechs.

One variant is equipped with 2XRAC5's, 2 Med Pulse Lasers and I feel not enough double heat sinks. It's a start, so we'll see how this pans out.

If you were talking about either the Nightstar or Nova Cat, you dodged a bullet. The first is lackluster at best with its hardpoint issues and is stuck with one of the dumbest walking animations ever. The crab shuffle looks cute on a KGC because of its general shape, what it's named after, etc. For the Nightstar, nope.
The Nova Cat is one of the most splendid barn door targets I've ever seen for its tonnage. I felt like I was literally clubbing baby seals last night killing them because the unskilled mechs at the hands of the players who thought they could do rolling laser vomit pokes from cover as if they were in an Ebon Jaguar. Sorry guys - it's not even REMOTELY the same.

That was one thing I did notice while looking at the Nova Cat. Are the hit boxes really that bad? I think that is a rather large torso chest exposure if players are laser vomit peaking from hills.

Awooof- Yeah i <3 this mech.
Nova Cat- yeah basic bundle is rather limiting but it's rather stupid proof with builds.
Night Star- So far it's between this and the Awoof that is vying for my stop spot of fav mech of the mech pack.
