How do they compare?

Happy with Scorch Boomer (2 X LB20-X + SRM's). Can MC, with its higher mounts, come up with a similar mech-wrecker build?

What about the other MAD's with, for example, Dakka + Laser builds.

Basically, does this new generation MC mech have noticeable advantages over MAD that gives it an edge?

Thanks

With the disclaimer that I am installing the patch at the moment, here is what I see the key differences as:
Marauder IIC has great hitboxes, MCII ones will be a bit worse. (or maybe a lot)
Marauder IIC is fairly narrow, making it better for fighting around corners.
Mad Cat MKII has higher hardpoints, which will help it with jump shots and hill peeks.
The Scorch can't use jumpjets, the MCII-2 can get 3 class 1 hoverjets for 6 tons.

Personally I prefer the Mad Cat MKII over the Marauder IIC.
I'll try to list down their differences as best to my limited abilities.
Marauder IIC :
- have very good hitboxes, even with their limited torso twist spreading damage is a breeze as you don't need to torso twist as much.
- have high weapon hardpoints, the main weapons that is... Although the arm mounted hardpoints are rather low, they are not a difficult knuckle draggers.
- the mech have a natural low sillhoute, so its easier to move from cover to cover etc etc. So even though they have a rather sluggish mobility stats it doesn't feel as gimped as it sounds.

Mad Cat MKII :
- their hit boxes are kinda ok... Not terrible but not as great as the Marauder IIC, you have to be more enthusiastic in torso twisting to spread the damage. But having the jump jets really helps in spreading the damage.
- their weapon hardpoints are in the ideal goldilock range, but not really high mounted over the cockpit. The weapon points on the arms are a little wide though, so it is quite difficult to side peek effectively with it.
- the mech stands really tall, so it is hard to find proper cover with it. But the weapon hardpoints are good enough to return fire so at least you won't feel helpless. Since it has the same mobility stats as the Marauder IIC, but not having the low sillhoute of the Mad IIC it does feel kinda gimped. I had to invest some skill points in the mobility tree just to make it feel acceptable.

So eventhough the Mad Cat MKII don't seem like it can hold a candle to the Marauder IIC, but the extra tonnage and jumpjets coupled with its weapon hardpoints makes it a more lethal mech than the Marauder IIC.
I love my MarauderIICs, but the Mad Cat MKII for me personally feels so much better. It is definitely a tier 1 assault mech together with the Marauder IIC :)

Played a bunch of matches with both the Scorch & equivalent MC (with JJ + AMS). The 2 XLB20-X + 4 X SRM build.

Did better with the MAD. Seems the silhouette of the Scorch was an serious advantage. The high mounts on the MC made for easy pickings. Maybe the MC is a more attractive target atm.... Not sure.

Anyone?

I can tell you right now, anyone that sees that MCII on their hud, they focus it. There's a reason though... It's fast, maneuverable, has great selections of weapons, (can boat missiles while still doing ballistics AND energy) and it can put up as much armor as the best assaults. (you just don't get much left for rear protection, not that you need it with the MCII's turn rates and maneuverability)

They especially hate the MCII-2 and MCII-4, as those can both super-boat missiles. (LRM70, 2400-2800 missiles, 2-4 ER Medium Lasers)

As a MC-II pilot, I am more concerned if I find myself facing another Mad Cat than a Marauder (but more intimidated by a Timberwolf or Mist Lynx with ECM). I also think it has an advantage against the majority of the other assault chassis... The Kodiak can cause issues, but one on one I would expect to be able to beat a Marauder in my MCII.

With SP put into mobility it seems to be more agile that many assaults, even when topping out at 65kph. It has enough armour that you can afford to take damage in order to secure kills or get in close to out brawl them.

The nice thing about the Mad Cat II over the Scorch is that the variant that does the double LB20X best also has 6 high mounted energy hardpoints. Instead of the SRMs, you can put 6 small pulse lasers. It gives you torso mounted (more durable) energy weapons to support your ammo-dependent main guns.

Can't forget that ECM the MAD IIC D sports! Granted with the hardpoint locations, has fewer viable loadouts.
When I save up for one, this is what I had in mind:

And for the MCII 2, really like the possibilities it offers loadout-wise. Though the loadout I wanna try may be too hot to run, at least not without skills helping it.

Need moar MC!
