Personally I prefer the Mad Cat MKII over the Marauder IIC.
I'll try to list down their differences as best to my limited abilities.
Marauder IIC :
- have very good hitboxes, even with their limited torso twist spreading damage is a breeze as you don't need to torso twist as much.
- have high weapon hardpoints, the main weapons that is... Although the arm mounted hardpoints are rather low, they are not a difficult knuckle draggers.
- the mech have a natural low sillhoute, so its easier to move from cover to cover etc etc. So even though they have a rather sluggish mobility stats it doesn't feel as gimped as it sounds.
Mad Cat MKII :
- their hit boxes are kinda ok... Not terrible but not as great as the Marauder IIC, you have to be more enthusiastic in torso twisting to spread the damage. But having the jump jets really helps in spreading the damage.
- their weapon hardpoints are in the ideal goldilock range, but not really high mounted over the cockpit. The weapon points on the arms are a little wide though, so it is quite difficult to side peek effectively with it.
- the mech stands really tall, so it is hard to find proper cover with it. But the weapon hardpoints are good enough to return fire so at least you won't feel helpless. Since it has the same mobility stats as the Marauder IIC, but not having the low sillhoute of the Mad IIC it does feel kinda gimped. I had to invest some skill points in the mobility tree just to make it feel acceptable.
So eventhough the Mad Cat MKII don't seem like it can hold a candle to the Marauder IIC, but the extra tonnage and jumpjets coupled with its weapon hardpoints makes it a more lethal mech than the Marauder IIC.
I love my MarauderIICs, but the Mad Cat MKII for me personally feels so much better. It is definitely a tier 1 assault mech together with the Marauder IIC
