Here's a list I've compiled over the last weeks. Please bare with me if some of these have already been suggested or mentioned before. I haven't read every single post in this forum.
TESTING GROUNDS
Let's face it, the only useful purpose of the Testing Grounds is to test 'Mech loadouts and do some target practice. However, I find that it's extremely time consuming to do so because you spend most of your time searching for the stationary 'Mech targets on the map, which are often scattered all over the place on extremely large maps.
Suggestions:
- Make all target 'Mechs visible on the battlegrid, minimap and radar at all times.
- Allow us to select the dropzone (where we start on the map).
- Allow us to select a predefined formation pattern for the target 'Mechs (tight lance, spread out lance, random, etc...)
- This one is a nice to have, as it's not that trivial to implement, but it would be nice if the target 'Mechs would shoot back (without moving except for torso twisting) using their weapons. Much like turrets do on some of the game modes. We should obviously have the option to toggle this aggressive mode on and off.
- This one is rather a bug than a suggestion, but the sensitivity of the new freelook camera is way too high. A single tap and the camera is hundreds of meters away.
There are several things about the in-game user interface that have always annoyed me and are still not fixed or changed. Most of those changes are simple and trivial to make.
Suggestions:
- The 3rd person view drone looks like it's attached to a rigid metal rod and follows the ground as the 'Mech moves. This is not only illogical, but it's also extremely annoying. If it's indeed a flying drone, it should not be affected by rough terrain and should have some form of stabilization. Please add a deadzone for the 3rd person view drone so it stays at roughly the same distance from the 'Mech without following every nook and cranny on the ground.
- When dropping as a group that is consisting of multiple lances or incomplete lances, it's extremely difficult to locate your unit members on the battlefield because their doritos icon is the same color as the rest of the team. This one has been missing ever since the group drops has existed. Please make it so members of the same unit have a common doritos icon color (or stroke) so we can quickly locate them.
- In addition to the previous point, we should be able to select the color or friendly, lance, unit and enemy doritos icons.
- In the score screen, show a special icon (number?) next to members that are in the same group, but only for your own team. (Much like you have in World of Tanks)
- Make the minimap zoomable! I don't understand how this hasn't been done yet. It's so simple, and pretty much every game I know of that has a minimap supports zooming it in and out. This would help tremendously with situational awareness in tight brawls or when scouting.
- A lot of 'MechWarriors like to slap the heat override button at the beginning of a match, but are then stuck with a HUGE flashing [OVERRIDE ENGAGED] label on top of their screen. I think it's way too big and should be reduced in size, and even moved to the side of the screen.
- The F1 help screen is totally useless because most people change their keyboard mappings and the image doesn't reflect them properly. It takes only a few games to get used to your key maps, and therefore this screen is not of much use. Instead, I would replace it with a detailed description of the current game mode, including all the primary and secondary objectives, win/loss conditions and a detail of point and cbill reward for completing said objectives.
The MechLab has changed a lot since day one, and it's getting a whole lot better. That said, there are still some annoyances that need to change in my opinion.
Suggestions:
- This is game is very technical and all about statistics. Yet, there's only a fraction of those statistics displayed in the MechLab. I would like to see a lot more information when hovering over weapons and equipment on a 'Mech, and see thing such as ECM and radar range, minimum weapon range in numbers, as well as detail son the function of certain specialized equipment. For example, Light versus XL engines. The part where a light engine can lose a torso and still function is not mentioned anywhere in the tooltip. The effects of stealth armor and how it works, etc...
- Show the number of missile tubes on missile hardpoints. Few know this, but fitting a LRM20 on a hardpoint with only 5 tubes in it, will make your LRM20 fire in 4 volleys of 5 missiles instead of all 20 at once. However, this is not visible anywhere in the stats or on the equipment.
- Allow us to reorder weapons to place them in the desired mount. When placing weapons in a component, they go in the first mount they can fit in starting from the bottom. Sometimes, you with to place a weapon in the higher mount but can't because you only want one and it can fit more. Therefore you have to fill the bottom ones with something just to be able to fill the high mounts.
- When cleaning your inventory (selling stuff), you have to click one item at the time to sell multiple items... This is so tedious. We need a way to select and sell multiple items at a time.
- When dropping on a map, the dropship should always drop us facing an objective or the enemy, and avoid dropping us facing walls or cliffs. Sometimes we are dropped facing the map's boundaries, which makes no sense.
