Standard Armor totals while in mehclab..
Highlander has more overall armor.
CT 138 vs 116
Arms 76 vs 60
Legs 91 vs 76

Standard armor while in the "select Mech" screen..

Maybe the buff not registering on select mech screen? Highlander have some armor buff, Mauler have structural buff i think.

PGI was looking to make the Highlander into something more of a 'tank' or pusher that moves the battle forward. Meanwhile the Mauler is more of a deadly weapons platform that in turn has less armor so that you can get to trying to neuter its significantly deadlier payloads faster as a counterplay point.
