I am sorry the Medium Laser Cooldown is worse than Large Laser?
Where in the world is this balanced?
I know PGI does not like boating mediums, but this is not the answer.
Medium Lasers even IS vs Clan were the only thing that was about rightly balanced and could be done on both sides equally well if build right.
Please take back this useless try and come up with something more interesting. People are starting to loose faith in you PGI with such desperate and clearly bad moves.
Instead of balancing this made things worse for IS. Clans can easily mix in boats with LPL and HL that now work faster than mediums and again outdo IS on large scale as our LL/ERLL does not hold up. Balancing is again out of whack.
Please fix.

Medium Laser has been the base weapon unchanged for years, look like PGI now "suddenly" thinks the medium laser is OP
.....
What's next? MG? Or SRM?
Another joke in balancing act.
Penang.

Why would you leave your name at the end, when it's clearly you leaving a message. I can tell this because there is a big picture on the left that says your name above it with "ET Penang". That's kind of odd tbh.

I don't care for this change either.
Post skill tree, PGI's tactic has been to nerf a particular weapon so that you have to spend skill tree points to buff it back to the way it was originally. I don't necessarily disagree with the general idea, but in this particular case it seems completely unwarranted.

But it is:
*Nova gets hit by Nerf-Hammer*
*Nova continues to melt*

(yes, I could see that this was an all ERML Nova)

Anything melts with Laser boat Nova mech x 15 laser hardpoints shooting at...regardless of what laser you use. If PGI don't want the laser to be OP, why bother release the pure laser boat? To have more fun in long distance poking?

I think this sheds light on the issue with PGI's way of balancing weapons in general. Their first action is always to prematurely nerf the weapons they think are OP when it's really the 'Mech that uses them that's overperforming. This simply hurts any other chassis which uses said weapon, and with a weapon platform as common as medium lasers it becomes abundantly clear.
PGI needs to realize this nerf-happy semblance of "balance" they have is hurting the game, not helping it. Can we please spread the word on this, community?

PS: They did nerf SRM's, by the way. Did you hear about the Artemis/lock retain nerf that released with Escalation? Lemme quote the patch notes real quick here:
"Post Skill Tree, the performance gulf between Artemis and non-Artemis based Missile systems has crossed a line; we now feel we need to reign in the inherent power of the Artemis system. With Artemis missiles being able to stack both the Artemis bonus and the Skill Tree bonuses, Artemis systems were too capable of reliably placing a majority of their total volley damage on a single Component. We are therefore reducing the bonus by an overall small amount to give Artemis systems fully augmented by the Spread Nodes a new maximum spread more equal to the previous inherent bonuses prior to the release of the Skill Tree."
I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about and honestly think that maybe Russ bought one too many beer packs from Mech pack revenue.

That's to be expected. Clan laser vomit builds don't use DPS, which is what got hit. They rely on massive alphas and then retreating into cover, and this tactic was virtually unaffected by this patch; no laser vomit build ever fires anywhere close to its maximum rate as the heat generated prevents that. Increasing their cooldown timers made it easier for pilots to not overheat by firing too quickly.
Meanwhile, IS laser vomit relied on its DPS advantage to just barely step to the clans, and now it's being forced to play like Clan laser vomit when it doesn't have the range, damage, and/or maneuverability to be comparable.
The only thing I'm wondering is when they're going to hold the surrender ceremony for the Inner Sphere. The deck has been continually stacked against the IS for so long that it feels clear the devs have a favored side, and there's no reason to play as IS (unless you have a 300 fetish) because they don't want them to win.
