For me, really learn how squish Clan mechs are. Say what you want IS, atleast you get some durability to help offset the numbers Clans are pumping out..

Seriously totally different gameplay here, really one wrong move and it's more then over for your mech. I get this can happen normally but so much more emphasized in this setting with the lack of durability we usually have on our mechs.

How did the IS v IS feel? Like chewing on years old stale jerky?

Pretty fun actually. Was very surprised at how my builds and tactics made for taking clan players down worked against IS mechs, they tore them new ***holes.

Bushwacker on Bushwacker in Scouting was fun. I know now that you can't hit their legs if they jam their nose into your face.

The slower, sturdier, less damaging 'mechs felt more like the MachWarrior I remember with my rose tinted glasses.

Never got an invasion match against Steiner (NA window). The scouting matches vs. Steiner... those guys need to practice. I was nearly blind drunk driving my Kintaro and roflstomped my way to victory.

I know the EU has some solid Steiner units, just wish the time would have lined up.

All I learned that Wolf need some new big units to hold up it's foundations again, and help train some of these other wolf players. Also mercs are bs and still op.

Sad that I will not get to satiate my blood for Smoke Jaguars in continuation of our epic, eternal feud. :P

However, similar to your experiences, CK, Clan vs Clan fights are interesting. Super punishing. When you're used to fighting people who hit a little less hard, but can take a hell of a lot more punishment, everything suddenly becoming a knife edge no room for error type of situation is fun. But stressful. Clan vs IS, the Clans can dish the hurt, but the IS can take it stupidly well. Clan vs Clan, both can deploy the pain, but nobody can actually weather the storm. It made for some quick but extremely brutal fights.

I think Clans are looking at it with the wrong set of eyes. What are some of the main differences between Clan and IS mechs besides the minor quirks, which with the Skill tree Armor/IS can be reinforced for both sides? IS are primarily humanoid mechs with more effective arms to be used as shields/etc, so there are lots more torso twisting where as Clans are primarily chicken walkers, many with arms that do not provide the type of coverage/ability to soak up damage. Then there is the range, Clan vs IS Clans are able to dish out greater damage at longer range, but then IS pilots are twisting away after firing slightly shorter duration/less damage weapons.

Of course the biggest difference will be organized unit/co-op vs same instead of pugs, provided anyone was able to get in some Siege drops instead of just the Scout drops. As for scout drops, I was surprised at the number of isXL still being used, considering PGI still has not crap about them yet, but that is another 10-15 threads...Posted Image

For once I didn't have to deal with 2-3 waves of Linebackers. Felt nice.

IS durability doesn't offset Clan firepower, BTW. Durability is a one time thing, while firepower can be utilized again and again.

The night we got to play some is vs is we felt like we were playing easy mode. Tactics and builds used to deal.with clan BS tore through is mechs.

Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before

Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before

My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars

D'you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said "peace could last forever"
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land
And

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
Ow, oh no, no, no, no, no

Look at the shoes you're filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more

My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no uh-oh-uh, no uh-oh, uh no
I don't need one more war

I don't need one more war
No, no, no, no uh-oh-uh, no uh-oh, uh no
Whaz so civil 'bout war anyway?

I learned that clan mechs mostly get killed because they've shutdown from overheating (by observing teammates...usually after I've shutdown and been killed).
