Yes, but...
As long as it fits with lore, I'd be okay with it. There are 15 variants (including a Clan variant) of the Atlas and 4 'custom' variants (Hero). Not to mention the 2 variants + 1 custom of the Atlas II and the 2 variants of the Atlas III. Now, granted these are all varying tech bases with maybe 8 of them not being available in the current MWO era, but that's still a lot of variants.
But overall, I'd be against something wildly different from lore without an excellent backstory to it. If you comb the forums, there have been a number of posts from people that get an idea for a mech they'd like to see AND come up with the backstory for how that variant came to be, etc. That's totally something I support as it adds to the community and the universe. But just "hey, I think we should have an Atlas with 6 ballistics"... no...I'll vote against that every time unless there's a story to go with it about how an Atlas came to have 6 ballistic hardpoints and what went into ripping out the laser and missile systems.

There sis a lot holes in Lore. Becouse it war written withouf knowing the developement of game play, and it was on board. It is like Star Wars. It was written from end to beggining, and now there are a holes.
