Simple fix to all boating.

10% Weapon Damage Reduction per weapon fired after the 1st in any weapon group.

1 Weapon Fired -0% Damage Reduction
2 Weapons Fired -10% Damage Reduction
3 Weapons Fired -20% Damage Reduction
4 Weapons Fired -30% Damage Reduction
5 Weapons Fired -40% Damage Reduction
6 Weapons Fired -50% Damage Reduction
7 Weapons Fired -60% Damage Reduction
8 Weapons Fired -70% Damage Reduction

Feel free to scream “NOOOOOOO….” but I like it.

NOOOOOOOOOOO....

But really, having the same penalty across the board makes small weapons like the SRM2, Machine Gun, Small Laser, etc. completely useless. They NEED to be boated to be useful.

I've said it before and I will say it again: We need big claustrophobic highly-urban maps.

A 50% ratio is a good start.

Man, if they could recreate the OLD Frozen Shity, I would be so happy.

Sure let's nerf lasers again and cycle back to ERPPC/Dakka/Gauss vomit meta. Face it, guy. So long as long range weapons are viable, there are going to be people that prefer to fight at range. Personally, I like brawling. If I play smart, I can manage a really fun brawl even on maps like Polar Highlands. If you're choosing your fights carefully you shouldn't be having a problem brawling, and most games end up turning into a brawl toward the end of the match anyway. What I often do when I am in a brawler is if there is a sniper phase going on I just let them widdle eachother down and keep my head low. Sooner or later someone turns it into a knife fight and I get to work in my fresh brawler. So instead of nerfing sniper rifles so that you can be careless with your shotgun, how about you play your shotguns carefully?

I like brawling myself...

But, IMO, its more a side-effect of Map/Objective(yeah, lol) design than weapons.

Want moar Brawl? You need smaller maps that push the action sooner and that give 'snipers' no where to snipe from.

Think about a map that is the cargo bay of a Jumpship. 1000m x 1000m, little terrain.

Insta-Brawl street fight.
Just how many player who have a W allergy could stomach such a map?

Edit: this timestamp is messing with me...

but forcing brawling by making sniping impossible is not good map design

a well designed map should allow brawling, sniping, and lrming all as part of its natural flow

a map like canyon is a good example of that

Laser vomit, particularly of clan mechs dominates pugs, it dominates competitive games. It has proven to be too effective, too easy to leverage the huge and long range hitscan alpha strikes.

Ballistics, mrm, srm require minimal distances to work ~250 meters at most. DPS and range figures on those are kind irrelevant when they can only be acheived in theory. My brawler roughneck only gets ~60 alpha strike on the weapons which spread badly (mrm, uac10) and have small effective range ~250 m and reduce effect on moving targets by at least 50%. Laser vomit clan hunchback which is 15 ton lighter will do 70+ hitscan alpha strikes at 500m.

please nerf lasers and allow more fun and brawly gameplay with options. Increase ballistic velocities by a lot, remove ballistic ghost heat rules.

Better yet why don't we just remove lasers from the game entirely so we can all just brawl it out right??? I mean why would any pilot not want to get stuck in the morass of a brawl??

Pinpoint damage with lasers requires ACCURACY and if you're too much of a potato to roll your torso to spread the damage around is it really laser's fault? For a laser vomit pilot to place all his/her damage in one spot they have to hold still and stare at their target for the entire burn time of the lasers which causes face time and leaves them vulnerable... BTW with all the advantages IS has in agility, especially in the larger mechs, if you can't spread out the dmg by rolling your torso around you must not be trying... If you're stupid enough to face lock a target and never turn away you DESERVE to die first...

So tired of calls to nerf weapons that require precision to use only so taters can face hug you while never torso twisting and not die.... Heaven forbid the brawling dakka spammers should have to actually pilot with some skill.... Possibly PLAY with some defensive skill rather than just rely on static defenses equipped to your mech...

It's funny how almost all of these "alpha limiting" balance solutions boil down to a stealth buff to whatever build or playstyle the person proposing it happens to favor. Let me take a wild guess here: big-gun PPFLD?
