Same issue here.
I get to "Finalizing Patch" but the last 18 bars stay black and no progress is made.

From the portal I selected the 3 lines in the top left corner of the winder, then "Open Latest Patcher Log". It was trying to delete an _OLD file in the /Piranha Games/MechWarrior Online/Bin64 directory and failed.
I tried to manually delete the file and failed (Admin Access Issue), I tried to rerun Portal as Admin and was still stuck.
Then I noticed Windows needed updating, ran the Windows update and the _OLD file was gone and patch was successfully applied.
WOOT WOOT!!!

Still no joy in patching.... I have rebooted again, ran the repair tool, and still nothing...
I am very loathe to let windows update Win7, for fear of it messing things up worse than it did the last time I let it update.......

Lazor Sharp, there may still be a way around. Please do the following, in order to correct your issue...
~Mr. D. V. "I foresaw this issue before I first installed MWO, and did extremely similar to what I'm telling you." Devnull
- Access your Windows Explorer with "Run as Administrator" mode, instead of using it normally.
- Right-click the Parent Directory ("Piranha Games") that contains the MWO Install Directories, and access the Properties.
- Go to the "Security" tab, and click "Advanced"
- On the "Permissions" tab, click to "Change Permissions"
- In the next dialogue, Uncheck the 'Include from Parent' and Check the 'Replace Child Object Permissions'
- In this same dialogue, Click the "Add..." button
- In the following dialogues, select the buttons and menu items in the following order... "Advanced > Find Now > 'Everyone' in the result list > OK > OK".
- You should now be at a new dialogue with checkboxes galore. In the "Allow column", Check the "Full Control" checkbox. All the others in that column will Check themselves for you, which is perfectly fine.
- Click "OK" on all the remaining dialogues, which will bring you back to the Windows Explorer display we first started from. There may even be a couple warning prompts, but that's only because MicroSoft is paranoid about anybody trying to mess with what they think your permissions should be. You can "OK" the changes, as I'm explicitly NOT telling you to do anything harmful to your stuff.
- You can now also close Windows Explorer, and Restart your Patch Sequence in the MWO Launcher. There shouldn't even be a need to deal with a UAC prompt as you're launching the MWO programs now.

And that is one of the primary reasons I do not utilize default installation for my games, nor for Steam/Origin. Since Vista went live MS has been trying to keep the regular bloke from fraking up his system unknowingly since most are willing to install almost anything on their system
/shudders.

Agreed! Everyone should have a separate install directory area, specifically configured for their Games!
