(if peeking is that important).

It's not, but you don't want to be wasting heat hitting the ground or buildings/other collision boxes and taking more damage than you need to. Supernova can get away with it better than the Orion IIC can since the arms are raised slightly higher and it doesn't have that super low mount on the left arm. Every inch counts.

Are the machine guns not worth it?

On a mech/build like this, probably not. Better to invest in an extra heatsink, really. Also grab Artemis for faster Streak lock-ons, and as I always harp on your builds redistribute that armor a bit (and why isn't the CT maxed out anyways?).

The Warhammer is alright at laservomit, but the Hellbringer does it much much much better. The Warhammer really shines with dual gauss or dual UAC10s.

It wouldn't let me adjust armor for some reason (before maxed tonnage i mean).

you'll need as many double heat sinks as you can fit for 4 C-ERLLs. Besides as you'll discover the Ebj is a terrible chassis to carry srms with.

I thought they might help against light mechs, but more heatsinks ahoy then.

If you want to invest on a laser vomit heavy, I would recommend a Clan heavy instead.

Poor brawl geometry aside, SRMs without JJs make me very sad. It feels...naked.
