So I'm feeling like maybe the $15 pricetag to put a Kurita pattern with 3 Kurita colors on my Locust might be worth it, but do you get these sorts of things from Events as well? What's the likelihood that I can just wait it out a month or two and bank that an Event will give me some or all of that? I'm also on the fence about declaring Loyalty because there's no PSR-inspired MatchMaker in FP stuff, right?

To severely CUT that price tag...
Get the Kurita pattern WITHOUT getting the colors. You could then use any colors you want, including similar colors which are generally much cheaper.

I dunno about events giving out colors and patterns, they are not that common. However early December is supposed to have cbill mech sales and 50% off select (but rotating daily) camo patterns.

So wait til then.

Matt (one of the devs that does the announcement updates) said patterns specifically, but usually colors wind up on sale around the same time so it would make sense.

Be aware there are 6 "free" colors. One you already have, the others are "bought" with cbills. They have the prefix "Basic." Admittedly they are the dullest, most muted colors imaginable. But like any color you only have to buy it once and you can use it on literally anything.

(Patterns have the cheap "single" option, but if you sell the mech it's gone, change the pattern [and save] it'll be gone, etc. I prefer Unlock options myself, but reserve buying patterns for mechs that I will keep at least some variant of for a long time. It should be 'Unlocks' that go on sale in December).
