Which hero mech is the current 'Meta' and worth buying during this sale for under 3,000 MCs?
I already have the following:
Pirate's Bane, Ember, Grid Iron, Ilya Muromet.
Would like to try something that has dakka or lazers...
Thanks!

How can you not have a purifier? It's so meta, it's pay-to-optimize.
Get Purifier man -- it was 3150 MC iirc, but with the sale, if it goes on sale, it should be under 3000 MC.

Edit: Has the sale started? Mech Bays and Camo appear to be at sale price in the store.

I will start,
I have the Ilya myself, I don't know how meta it is, but it's pretty solid and fun to play dakka style (I run mine with 3x LBx 10).
If you enjoy slow but steady IS heavy, it is worth your consideration.

An assault could be on the table as well - I have fewer assaults than any other class (Mad2 & a little-used Highlander).

Yup 50% sale for Hero mechs has started.
Despite my... uh... mercenary tendencies, I personally prefer IS mechs these days, so I will be probably aiming for IS heroes - preferably in medium/heavy chassis.
Does anyone know the deal with Legend Killer? Have they been de-quirked into oblivion?

It has LBXAC quirks so this is what I did with it:

You can run him with AC10s in a similar way if you strip one ton of ammo and the heatsink. But in that case you need to replace the LAMS by a standard AMS, otherwise it will shut you down too quickly.
UAC5s should also work. Even UAC10s are fine if you strip the med lasers.

Catapult Jester, 2 LL's+4ERML's, 320XL, ams and JJ's. Fast and mobile mech. Works very well. Good hitboxes, tanks well.
Thunderbolt, Topdog. MPL monster, moves fairly well and is a tough brawler. Can swap in a pair of ERLL's if you like too.
Griffin Sparky. MPL, or PPC+ML mech. It's very zippy and makes for a great striker/hit and run or all around play.
Shadow Hawk, Grey death. It's a single Ballistic with 4 lasers. Fairly mobile and has JJ's, Over all decent hitboxes and kinda tanky.
Dakka?
well not really dakka, but machine gun dakka! Black Jack Arrow. 6 Machine guns and a pair of LPL's with an ERML. A very fun and cheap little mech.
If your a fan of Jagers, the Firebrand with UAC5's and PPC's isn't to bad either. You don't see them to often, but they are still decent mechs. Can also run dual Gauss or ac20's too

I run twin LRM15+Artemis, Tag, 3x ML, AMS and BAP. People ***** about LRMs, but it's not like there isn't a range finder on your reticule... I regularly close to within 200m, the thing shreds and once mastered is very tanky and can throw down a ton of suppression, plus if you roll close to your assaults, they benefit from the ECM.
Just a super 'mech in my opinion.
