One of my favorite fun builds is a 2-gauss TBR-C...yeah I know most people will think it's silly but I've been playing it long enough to have gotten really good with the machine. I'm really wanting to play with a similar build, but using the IS light gauss rifles. The TBR lets me mount one rifle on the right torso and one on the right arm.

Is there an IS mech that will let me run a similar configuration? I want both rifles offset to one side and to be able to carry at least 5 tons of ammo.

For the exact combo you can use the Cataphract 3D or Muromets.

Otherwise you can try double RT Light Gauss on most Roughneck variants.

I'll check out the cataphract 3D. Thanks!

Like FupDup said, you're looking at either a Roughneck (RGH-1A, RGH-1C, RGH-2A) or Cataphract (CTF-3D, Ilya Muromets) on a Heavy.

If you happen to have the Reward Victor, the VTR-9A1(L), that could also do it.

Further into the Assault class, there's one Nightstar (NSR-9P) or some Annihilators (ANH-1A, ANH-1X, ANH-2A).

The only 'mechs I've enjoyed LGauss on are the UZL-5P & RFL-3C/RFL-3N.

Yeah I don't know if I'll enjoy it...I'm playing with a pair on one of my Catapult K2's and it's not doing the damage I'd like to see. But I'm able to fair from under cover like I can with my TBR. I'm going to get all smurfy with teh 3D and see what it looks like.

Not the most auspicious start but something I think could certainly be grown into something neat. I did expect the light rifles to do a little more damage...the rate of damage seems to drop quite significantly before maximum range.

Roughneck, not as god quirked for ballistics as the cataphract, but the variant that has 3 ballistic points RGH-2A (RA-1B, RT-1B, CT/Head- 3E, LT- 2M, 1AMS, LA - 1B) has an awesome high mount in that Right torso, decent weapon quirks (15% ballistic Cooldown) and crazy armor quirks. Highly recommend it. Also nice for other builds.
Otherwise the Thanatos is pretty sweet.

Well you can get misery if you can live with heavy gauss.

But you can't mount one in the arm, so they couldn't deadside like they want to.

I've already got several builds that can load a heavy gauss and found it too inconvenient. Short range and really limited on ammunition...by the looks my TBR would out perform anything I could put the heavy gauss on. Of course, in game performance doesn't always reflect what things look like on paper. I might give it a try on my Atlas just to see if it's fun or not.

LGR's are really in a bad place. Three tons less is 80% of the weight for slightly more than 50% of the damage and a teensy bit more range. Not one of the winners in the Civil War tech update, unless you REALLY want something Gausslike and can't quite squeeze in a full one, like a steath armored Thanatos-5S with a LFE.

Ok, if you really want to do light gauss side poking is not the way to go. I would suggest try a rifleman 3c (http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3eb5850cd4fa0a8) as the first go to. range buffs and cooldown is nice. You can plink away at enemy mechs.

If you really want to have fun with Light Gauss, strap 4 of them to an IS assault.

On paper it has quite a bit more range than the standard rifle, a significantly faster cool down, and 20 rounds per ton...I think once tweaked it'll be a pretty suitable weapon (in a pair). But yeah...the reduced weight was certainly not an adequate trade for the 50% damage. I think this Cataphract will be a fun toy every now and then but it's not competitive my my TBR. Little bit of a let down.

Double Light Gauss can also be done on the Protector Orion... I tried it, but I can't really recommend it.

Or you could have gone with the RGH-2A which I already stated because it's a much more viable chassis.

People are adding to the list, not trying to invalidate other entries on it. Chillax.

Totally forgot about that one, probably because I don't run multiple ballistics on most of my Marauders (and the one that I do is just a triple mount of MGs).

Still its a heavy gauss in side torso, throw in 3 llas and leave right side empty.
something like that

I decided to run the Cataphract over the roughneck because it gave my 5 more tons to play with ammo, aux weapons, and armor.

I couldn't find a setup with my Marauder that I liked. I think one of the patches some time back really buggered the IS Marauder anyway...use to be strong builds, but now they seem to be as fragile as Catapults.
