I have had way too many disconnects tonight, its driving me up the wall.
What the hell is PGI running their servers on? I dont get this on any other MMO/online
game, its just MW that i have this issue on.
Some days it will be fine, other like today i cant stay logged in for more than 3-4 minutes before I
get booted to the login screen.
To cap it off I end up witht that stupid timeout penalty, which completly ignore the fact I am activly trying to log back into the game and rejoin.
My internet is a solid 3.4mb fibre connetion from sky, ive got my MWO set to exempt on all firewalls and antirvirue and this keeps happening. I remember this was a problem 2-3 years ago when i was at another addres and i have the classic issue of still being logged into the ingame voip channel while trying to log back in.
I actively want to play this game and it punishing me for trying.

Download a free program called Ping Plotter, and run it. It will help you find out where the bottleneck is.

I've had the same problem for years.
Yesterday after a crash the repair tool told me that MWO couldn't run because it had missing files...after I'd been playing for hours

I get wild disconnects too..
Sometimes, it's a full system freeze (I ahve to turn laptop off and on again), sometimes just boot to desktop, and sometimes, just a kick back to the homescreen, with the ping still strong and in-match VOIP still heard..
MWO has serious connection issues..
No need to say it doesn't happen with any other game / stream / program on my system.. and no, it's not my ISP's issue..

Had the same issues last night. 5 games, 4 times complete system crash, tabbing out impossible. Some times with VOIP still audible for a minute or so, then silence. Stopped playing after the last one. Used to be a rare thing, had maybe 10 of those crashes in total before that, over a span of half a year or so.
And I only wanted to make use of my last 24 hours of Premium Time...

Yeah this is exactly what happens to me.
I did try the ping plotter, it showed a jump in ping from 30 to between 100-200 over the last 2 connection points, Im assumeing this is where the problem is comeing from.

Using Ping Plotter, ping being high = not so bad.. what you really want to know is what the Packet Loss is at. Thats the red graph thingy on the right side.....PL is where it's at. One or two hops of packet loss in the 20+ % area is whats causing server disconnects.

This happened to my a couple months back with no resolution...it fixed itself.
I'd search for the post, but it appears PGIs forums search function is busted as well.
Attain the IP address of the server you're connecting to and perform a My Trace Route test. Its possible you're having connectivity issues in transit. Whats that mean, without nerding out on you and keeping it simple....
Your traffic, when jumping between networks to get to the server(s) might be experiencing packet loss.
Just as an example if your packet goes Sky->ATT->Cogent->Level3->server
You might be getting packet loss between the Cogent -> Level3 hop. Since packets will not take the same route to servers in different locations(IPs), this might explain the results you are seeing.
I think this is what happened to me, since no one else on the forums at that time was complaining about connectivity issues, it seemed unique to me. Basically something is busted in transit to the servers, and its not necessarily your carriers fault, might be the other dudes on the way to the server.

Same here, but I'm also getting weird as heck errors. For instance, after logging I will have no buttons on the menu, or start in FW section, and such. I don't think its just connectivity. This game is broken since the last patch.
