Hm, just did the math. That's a total of 27,684 mechs. Considering the Lyran Commonwealth has around 980 billion people living in it... yeah we mech pilots are a rare breed. lol

Well, considering the launch is to take place in 3049 within the BT universe, and we have this snippet:

Katherine Steiner-Davion seceded the Lyran half of the nation in 3057, creating the Lyran Alliance, which would lead to the FedCom Civil War in 3062.

I'd say we have a while yet where the Lyrans and Davions will be fighting under the same banner.

Keep in mind that that number includes aerospace, vehicle, and infantry assets as well as support. Battlemechs make up only some of that number, so we're even more speshul.

Well I think even if you are part of the FedCom you still have your alligence to either the Davions or the Stienerrs, either you grew up in Lyran space or Fed Suns. Even if you were born while the FedCom was together, you would still have a stronger tie to which ever House you were part of.

The FedCom still doesn't fully exist as a single entity. Both realms do work very closely together but are still seperate militaries. The Federated Commonwealth doesn't become official until 3056 when Archon Melissa dies.
