Yes, I understand they have stated NO MULTIPLAYER, SINGLE PLAYER only, but coop is a distinct version of multiplayer, that if used will still maintain the Singleplayer element of the game. You would just be replacing your AI lance mates with your friends.
I've spent a fair amount of time looking online & watching videos on this. I still have no answers, just the usual, no multiplayer tag line.

But I can say this, if you are your shot right you can hit something at 1200m with an AC/20 and do damage.

Makes sense, that's one of the most popular types of single player FPS. Now what would really sell it is a console port with split screen multiplayer, but that's probably not on the table right at this moment.

It would be likely be X-box exclusive if it did port to console due to the Microsoft licencing of mechwarrior to PGI.

I just hope it's a little bit more advanced than just being able to replace a friendly AI with a Friend. I want my teammates to chose their own mechs from my stable, and have the ability to tweak them to their likening with the unused things laying around in my inventory.

MW5Mercs will have 4 player PVE co-op as the closest to multiplayer. And I hope it stays that way. No reason to spread their focus on other things regarding multiplayer. The game needs all the attention it can get without also forgetting to take care of MWO.
