You're right. I won't. You're not worth the effort because you're being intentionally obtuse.

Whatever.

I explained your example, so now you're screaming MECH CLASSES!.

They work the same way.

No they won't. A limited player pool will not allow you to have the idealized examples you keep touting.

Oh look, this thread again! Why don't you guys just stick to the threads PGI cares about and tell them what you want to spend more money on? At least then there will be a chance something happens.

The best player in the best mech/variant (generally some heavy or assault) will have a much bigger significant value to the match than the same best player in a Light. Even at the highest of levels, you can only do so much and take so much damage in a Light compared a bigger mech. Considering most matches are a slugfest with the occasional cap win, the ability to take down an enemy as efficient as possible has a lot more value in grand scheme of the game (regardless of the mode you are running).

PSR ONLY calculates the stat you are given, but ignores mech classes. Even the previous Elo system PGI had put together used ONE value to determine skill, completely ignoring weight classes (IIRC)... considering noone considers an Awesome at the same level as a Deathstrike (MKII hero).

Either way, having too many factors (just like mech classes) makes matching significantly more difficult in MWO... primarily due to not enough of a population.

the previous system gave you a different ELO value for each weight class at least.

dunno why they got rid of that in favor of the current tier system

but yeah the game also needs to take into account that not all mechs are created equal. an awesome is not even close to a deathstrike and should not be treated as such.

at the very least the game should try to match tonnage and count clan mechs as being 5-10 tons heavier for purposes of tonnage matching. so an awesome would be counted as 80 tons and a deathstrike would be counted as 95-100 tons. that way if it sticks an awesome on one team and a deathstrike on the other team, its giving the team with the awesome 15-20 extra tons elsewhere.
