if its a single player game that you play by yourself why would you want to modify it

on the other side of the coin once you buy the game go ahead do what you want

like your car if you own it who cares what you do

It would , but for some reason that's not how it works out most of the time, ether a game is released with an editor , like divinity original sin , shadow run, neverwinter nights etc. or they just don't and never do even at a later date, like battletech will not have an editor as they said it tuck them a bit less than a year to make it for shadowrun so they will not have one now, and most "fps" games do not get an public editor.

weird. Seems illogical and counter productive. Early access to me would dilute the actual game stream, one would think, whereas after it's settled, releasing it then would possibly incur more attention?

Ah well, probably why I'm not a dev.

With the Steam API being used on the backend, Workshop integration would be pretty painless for PGI. Might be something they are saving for a closer to release announcement....

i completely disagree that modding is bad for a game. how many people still play skyrim all these years later, because the modding scene is so amazing!

I'm guessing you guys missed their comment? In one of the townhalls, somebody (Russ?) mentioned that they're not going out of their way to make mod development easy, but they're not doing anything to prevent it. So industrious modders should be able to do what they want if they have the skills.

Well that answers that. So it's really going to be up to the community to make it happen.

Thank you for bringing that up, Tarogato!
I totally missed when Russ said that. I wish they'd be more public with statements like that. Small but very important.
MW5 is pretty much going to be a near-instant buy for me now. With mods there is hope for the game yet! Posted Image

According to Steam 12.6k players and 9.3k on special edition (as of this post), willing to bet more than half of them are running modded games. Myself included still hop on once in a blue moon to enjoy private mods i.e. one of my APB:R characters imported as a custom race with my outfit from APB (4k textures) and Artoria/Tamamo/Nero from Fate series as companions (8k textures, had some help with animations and getting the voice quality just right. Never got around to doing quest requirements.).
