What would've normally been a very straightforward comparison is muddled by very...peculiar builds.

I think I'd go with the Wolvie. A big IS assault mech with an XL engine and twin side-torso Gauss is a recipe for a real bad time.

Cyclops wins at 260 meters.. gets worse for the Wolverine if the range increases.

Edit: Then again, if you remove perfect accuracy and allow the sim to target something other than CT the Wolverine wins

With builds like that, my money is on the MLX-G with the 8mgs + whatever flavor of small/medium lasers the person likes that inevitably comes along

That is a pretty tough fight to judge.

Both have XL but only one of them has Gauss XL. Even with the Gauss + XL the Cyclops has more armor to chew through to get to that Gauss rifle.

Only one of them has 30 pinpoint damage but I bet the wolverine can twist faster.


I'm going to vote for the Wolverine for healing factor alone.

Gauss in IS XL torsos? In 2017? Hello?

I tried to use pair of gauss on Huncback IIC, with clan XL of course. All the time, 2 seconds after the moment you lost that weak ST armor, the gauss explodes and you lost half of your mech. Then same thing on other side and the whole mech is dead. I died nearly all the time from losing both torsos with pretty good CT armor left.

It just doesn't work. And Cyplocs can have only about 20 more armor, so even if it were to have STD or LFE engine, it would end up dying too fast anyway.

Yeah, even with Tier 3 Accuracy, the Wolverine has a good chance of winning if it goes for XLs. And even if the Cyclops manages to beat it, whatever's opportunistic enough to go for it will pretty much instawin.

Why would anyone actually use a IS XL on anything that isnt a super fast light mech (or 100% dedicated sniper mech that is unlikely to get too much damage focused on a ST). That and ST GR+XL has been a no-no since day1, even in skilled hands since the GR would go up and the entire mech would be dead right then and there. I guess you could mke an exception for teh GR whammy b4 LFE existed, but now its almost 100% better to boat LFEs on ur heavy/assault, only a few fast meds and all lights really wanna run XLs these days...
