I'll admit that I usually don't pay attention to the number of components I destroy so with the Daily Advent Challenge starting tonight I have no idea how to do it efficiently.

Does removing a side torso count as one component or two if takes off the arm?

When you kill a mech do you also get credit for the component? Is the center torso a component? If get both legs on a light light is it two components one kill or just one and one?

I usually try for efficient kills, but should I instead target legs and arms or side torsos?

What builds work best?

Thanks!

If you're component farming go for sides.

As for most efficient either both sides killing the mech/rendering it useless or both legs. If you hit an arm you're wasting heat/ammo and doing it wrong.

If you are farming dmg, shoot sides.

Pretty sure CT is considered a component.

Yes, CT is definitely a component- but you won't get the other ones counted on a CT kill. LT/RT will throw in the damage/component destruction for the matching arm.

Thanks. Completed the challenge.

Took 5 games to get to 7 components . Probably because I was trying too much and taking too many risks to get them. Switched to a pre-civil war tech old favorite just to have fun for the last 3 and got 8 components in one game.

Go figure.

Always focus side torsos, unless the fight dictates you not, say, a cherry red CT.
Focus the side with the most weapons on it.
Avoid tunnel vision, listen to your team, and always check the mini-map.
Best of luck, and happy hunting.

Easiest way to component farm is to bring a LRM boat.. the damage spread will give you lots of components with little effort. I finished the challenge in 2 matches.. Would have finished in a single match, but somebody stole my 4th kill, so I had only 9 components and 3 kills (2 solo).

I used a Sml laser Nova. Pops sides off in 2 shots usually. Got 8 one match and 10 the next.
