So I've decided to come back to MWO after a gap of 18 months - 2 years and unsurprisingly it's all changed!!! (as shown by the 43 updates I had to sit through Posted Image )

I've kind of got a hang of most of the major changes (new mechlab, Skill tree, etc) but the one I can't work out is Modules - like Seismic Sensor etc

Do they still exist in game?

If so how do you find them in the mechlab?

(no luck searching the interweb but I get a sea of old posts)

Modules have been removed and reimbursed (see Refund Ledger in Skill tree). You can get all the old modules in the skill tree. E.g. Seismic Sensor is found in the Sensors Tree while stuff like Improved Gyros is in the survival tree and the cooldown/range modules are loosely integrated into the firepower tree.

Getting the benefits of the old modules is rather cheap nowadays...6m cbills for radar deprivation can now be skilled with like 15 cheap nodes. You have to choose however...you can't get everything Posted Image

New skill tree = old skill tree + pilot unlocks + modules + some new fancy stuff

Ah thanks - that makes sense.

I did see seismic sensor in the sensor skill tree but had assumed it was an improvement to the modules.

Serves me right for having been gone so long.

Right I’m off to get slaughtered while I remember how to actually play.......

Pay close attention to how you spend those skill points and XP. For all the mechs you had mastered it won't cost you anything, but as you decide maybe this node would be better than that node and start to change things it will get expensive. Once you use up all your GSP for any mechs that you just bought you will have to use XP and cbills only. That's were it gets rough.

Welcome back and good luck!

another hint.....if you previously had basics/elite/master on that mech, you got free so called HSP (historic skill points) that are free and gets your mech back to the skill level you had before. So 91 HSP for mastered mechs and 23 with Mechs that only had basics.
