I want to buy Medusa (hero Viper). The "Heroes" section of the store (gift store, as main store only has packages?) only contains some of the IS hero mechs, and no clan mechs. The "Clan Heroes" sections also don't contain it. The only place I've found it so far is as part of a "Viper Package," which is pretty expensive.

The search function on the store turns up zero results for "Viper" or "Medusa," so search is completely broken.

It looks like there are 3 or 4 different iterations of the store mashed together. Very confusing, unprofessional, and it's keeping me from being able to give you (PGI) money.

In case anyone's wondering, here's the Viper plan.

Flank, flamers to force shutdown, then headshot.
I may drop the 3rd HML for a couple of extra flamers or some ER smalls or something.

Most heroes are locked to mech packs - You have to buy a whole pack than add it, you can't just buy the heroes. The exceptions are the 'hero series' mechs, where they released a bunch of heroes at once for mechs that are so old they didn't have heroes when they were released.

It sucks, but it is what it is.

There are different ways that hero mechs are sold. Some are traditional mechpack releases, and some are standalone hero releases. Those that are in mechpack releases are not available for single purchase. The standalone hero releases were created to provide hero mechs for those mechs which were previously released in tiered multiple mech collection form and not the traditional mechpack form.

If you want to throw cash at a Medusa, use it to buy MC and purchase the Medusa in the in-game store.

Yes, sometimes the splitted shop is a bit weird. For the Medusa you have 2 options

a) buy into the Viperpackages (incl mechbays, premtime, etc)
b ) buy the Medusa ingame in the "Shop" with MC (you have to add a 300MC Mechbay, if you dont own it)

Darn. I wanted to spend actual cash to be eligible for next year's loyalty thing. Already bought some MC when it was on sale, but don't have enough for a Viper.
I will just wait, or buy a c-bill Nova or something.

The Viper is unlikely to count towards the 2018 Hostage Program. It's too old.

Old or not, spending cash on a Medusa would count as a 'standalone hero equivalent' mechpack upgrade using the 2017 eligibility criteria, but you'd still have to own the basic mechpack first.

Not true actually. All packages are eligible. Hell, the Clan Wave packs allowed one to get mechs from this year's loyalty program, and how old are those again?

So you're right. It appears I was looking at the IS eligibility when checking for Clan packs that counted this year.

We have a Christmas sale that should be starting later this week, Medusa could potentially be 50% off its normal MC price. So keep doing the dailies and if you have even half the MC you might have enough.

Now keep in mind Medusa is a Viper and plays as such, make sure you like Vipers before dropping MC on one. Vipers aren't for everyone.

It's a Cbill mech sale. Heros got their own sale back during Black Friday/ Cyber Monday, so you kinda missed the boat on that one.

If it plays like an ECM-less Arctic Cheetah that can support more flamers, that's about what I'm going for. Flame, get a shutdown, pop the cockpit, move on...at least, that's the goal.

Heroes in the web site unless they're ones from the old invasion mech packs are not stand alone, they are attached to standard packs and won't unlock unless you buy it first.

You can of course buy MC and purchase it in game.

This then leads to interesting math.

If you have just enough MC the viper hero even if not in a sale is cheaper to buy with MC.

If however you have no MC you have to buy far more MC than you need. this leaves you with quite a few left over, and is ok if you intend to spend it later.

If not, it's more cost effective to buy the standard and hero via the website.

Even if you own the c-bill variants and you don't want doubles you still have 3 extra mech bays, and you'll get 30 days permium play time.

I don't think it is a mess, I think it's kept that way on purpose, but you could always ask support or billing via e-mail.

But if I want to qualify for 2018 loyalty whatever (best value for money) and I've already bought MC, then I need to buy a mech direct.
