Also that AlphaStrike button is too small — should take at least half of the fire control panel.

Well... since that is a potentially expensive decision (especially if you aren't happy with how it turns out), you might want to persuade the Minister of Finance to let you buy the Founder's pack, so that you can see the state of the display option(s), etc.
Of course, the downside is that if you start playing, it will potentially cut into your build time...
Believe me, I have been barking up that tree for awhile. Says I have to get rid of some toys if I'm getting a new one. Problem is that I am running out of toys that I am willing to part with.
So I had to make a choice, either get founders (I got to go with the legendary one) or build the MechPit. You can see my decision. It has been something I have wanted to build since Mechwarrior 2 came out. I had let that dream die somewhere after MW4 and the bastardization that was the Mech Assault titles. Now here we are, a new Mechwarrior game looming and me with a decade of ideas trying to get organized and brought into meat space.

I am in the process of redesigning that panel, but I don't think Ill make that button any bigger. I like to think that I wont use it THAT much....
And since Ill be basically scraping the old panel I will be doing some back lighting experiments with it. I have a whole string of LED christmas lights to scavenge...

Same. I know how you feel. Ran across this
And i'm using to base my cockpit off of. Building a square frame around it on both sides. About 5 feet high and then a back, roof and front. Leaving both sides unfinished for now. Panel switches will be attached to the interior ceiling. While the exterior roof will be removable for upgrades and tweaks.Good place to start. I'll know more about my final design, single, large monitor or 3 smaller ones after tax season.

Do you have donuts at meetings?
Only if Propnut brings his ring shaped joystick to the meeting.
Which, of course, would be evidence of his suffering a setback... and we would be obligated to perform an immediate intervention.

I love v1 of your pod, I can't wait to see v2.
Just go back from GenCon, SO SLEEPY. Hope to get in some work on the sim this week, after a good nights sleep.
Glad you guys are getting some use out of that teensy, but the thanks really needs to go to the guy who wrote the GenericHID interface.

Best episode ever!
Great work on the mechpit. Very inspiring. Your work is making me consider designing and building a custom panel set-up. Just a small desk based one to handle all controls except aiming and firing. I'd leave that to mouse control.
Looking foward to seeing more of your work.

I'm dying to get it mostly finished and show it off, but one thing led to another and I've replaced nearly every panel inside the thing. On top of that I had some hardware issues, the G940 broke AGAIN, so I switched to a different HOTAS which meant reworking the mounts and surrounds, I upgraded my video card and had issues with the new one so had to send it back and buy another...
Anyway it is coming along, but not as fast as I'd like.

Same for me, the ministry of finance put a moratorium on my pit spending so I currently sit out of material and on hold till at least the end of this week.
At least I have other pit builders to watch while I wait to continue mine.

Just tested out the Thrustmaster HOTAS setup on the MEchpit rig using the Teensy++2.0. All systems are green, the controller is working perfectly!

Hey I am perfectly... average....
:-)
I am just glad that I could contribute in some way to yours and others builds. With any luck the devs will get wind of this "MechPit" movement and feed us their complete vision for all available controls....
I got panels to design.
