Hello all,

Now I know the PSR rating method has been discussed ad nausea here and that conventional wisdom has it that it is an experience bar.

That said, I find it weird that I'm still deep in T5 on my main account after a little over 1500 matches (yeah, I know, I don't have much git gud Posted Image ). I have two alternate accounts that I am trying to keep totally f2p. On one I have played a little over 30 matches and am about to go T4. On my other alternate account which I started just today, after six matches I am 2/3 of the way up T4.

If the PSR rating is really an experience bar, how come I'm so much further ahead after only six matches? I suppose it must do some kind of averaging.

Anyway, feel free to ignore this thread, dead horse and all that...

Good hunting,
CFC Conky

The first 25 matches an account has are massively worth more towards your initial Tiering than anything afterwards. So if you start an alt and utterly sealclub, you might find yourself T3 after your cadet bonus is done.

Ah, ok, thanks!

No need for further posts about this.

So, when I started an Alt character I got booted to Tier 4 after 5 matches, but I was using the Trial Arctic Cheetah with ECM and getting 5-7 kills per match. Nobody in T5 knows what to do so you can't rely on them. Small fast mechs allow you to help them or go solo if they can't be helped.

Tier 4 took about a month to get through, I probably should have just played the Cheetah to T2 or T1. Once you start losing games they seem to hold you back as opposed to never having a negative consequence game. So go ahead and tell me that's not how PSR works.

Solaris 7 will be the true pilot rating. PSR is just too messed up with 11 other players to be a measure of skill. Maybe it measures how well you can communicate with a team though. VOIP helps, but I need a new microphone.

My initial foray into MWO was horrendous and it took me FOREVER to get out of tier 5 when I started to get into the game more seriously (I only have one account). I actually think it was good for me to start that way as I learned a lot at the time. Now, tier 2 went by quick and I'm already almost halfway thru tier 1 at this point.

The cadet bonus helps and you also have that experience. And you are likely using the Trial mechs, which a number of them are halfway decent. We do not know that you actually own nor how you play them.

The PSR is closer to being an experience but you also have to have quality matches. You are just now breaking 200 match score but started in the depths of T5 for your first couple of months.

Hmm, think of it as killing light blue npcs more often than of dark blues/yellows, gaining very little experience, then dying and not always getting a rez...:). Dying early without making the enemy pay for it removes your ability to generate a higher match score.

only for 1v1

it wont be your true rating as part of a team though

because a lot of things that apply to teamplay dont matter in 1v1

heat doesnt even really matter in 1v1 either which will be stupid

Hi Tarl,

Yup, I'm using the trial mechs and so far my favs are the Hunchback IIC and the Warhammer. True enough, I have more experience now and my alt account matches, while not stellar, are better than when I started on my main account. I own a number of mechs across all weight classes. My past builds have been mostly entered around ballistics but I am trying to skill up some laser boats for my fp IS invasion decks.

Good hunting,
