Why not? It's just a flying texture, it doesn't even have collision.
Would be really cool for invasion and scouting

To be honest, if this was in the game, it would make Faction Play tolerable for me at least. It does give you the feeling or illusion that you are bringing your own assets to the field. However, here is how I would do this feature.
1. Only Unit Leaders (either founders or successors) are allowed to customize dropships.
2. You must have a tag on the planet. If you lose it, your unit dropship won't come in Invasion or Scouting.
3. A button called "Dropship Customization" should be added to Faction Play only.
4. You are allowed to use the assets of the colors and decals you paid for with MC.
