Ok. So this is gonna be a small story.

First off.

- Im using the Steam client nowadays to play MWO, I would rather use the stand alone and its repair tool. The last time I tried the MWO portal, I never got it to work properly or getting the repair started and such. Also i cant bear the thought to install the game AGAIN, since my new laptop didnt exactly have the biggest space, only got 40 gigs left.

- The game have suffered after the last Windows 10 update.

- The first error was something along the lines of not getting the MWO steam client to run at all, just giving me this yellow triangle error about that my performance might drop becasue Im using an unsupported graphic card.....

- Tried right clicking on my desktop and select NVIDIA control panel. Well that didnt work..

- This error affected both MWO and some other games of mine, like Everspace

NOTE: Now. I do have an integrated graphic card, Intel Graphics 630 on my laptop but I also have NVIDIA GTX 1050. The first were updated before this first error, the NVIDIA one, werent updated.

- So I got NVIDA Geforce Experience up and running to update the driver properly, because my local computer wizard said updating that graphic card through Advanced system configurations and unit management(?) werent reliable.

-Now both my graphic cards are updated AND got 32 gigs of ram for good measure, before I had only 8 ( psst got discount, since those who brought them never paid back)

- So, now I CAN get into MWO sometimes, play a few games and such. But most often than not. I get to the endless loading loop which is indicated by that the mouse pointer wont disappear ( which is a good sign if it does, since something DO happen in the background).
This loading loop can happen even before I enter the Mechlab and/ or after a match, if I ever get into one, or even after existing Training Grounds for example.

This recent error does NOT affect other games as far as I can tell.

So Im at a loss. So if anyone have advice, I would really appreciate that. I want a stabel MWO experience again, theres so much interesting fun ahead for MWO and well, Battletech and MW5M in the future. Need my new powerhouse laptop work properly. At least for MWO for now Posted Image

I would love to send any info to support, but heres the deal, the below step-bysteps. Dosent help me finding the needed logs and files through Steam, i would like some guidance regarding that. Because I cant find any of the below, through Local files for MWO on steam, unless that Im blind that is.

1) Attach your crash dump to your e-mail to us.
** Path: C:\Program Files(x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER

2) Attach your attributes.xml to your e-mail to us.
** Path: C:\Program Files(x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER

3) Attach your logs file to your e-mail to us.
** Path: C:\Program Files(x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online and last log in
** C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\LogBackups

4) Attach your user.cfg to you e-mail to us.
** Path: C:\Program Files(x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online

5) Attach your dxdiag
** To access it, press the Windows key + R, type Dxdiag and press Enter. Save all information locally.

My specs

Intel Core i5 - 7300HQ CPU 2, 50 GHz

32 GB Ram ( DDR4, I think)

ACPI x64 bit

Intel HD Graphics 630

237 GB, 39 GB free

Not sure if this info helps though.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

Those file locations are old, before the update standalone patcher. c:\user\windows log in name, ie Tickle Pink\saved games\Mechwarrior Online\your pilots name.

Just posting the above first, will add more once I saved this post.

Startup, Settings, System (display..power), Power & Sleep, Related Settings-Additional Power settings - select High performance (may be hidden under Show Additional Plans).

Go back to Settings, Gaming - Disable all the Xbox stuff.

Disable Windows from updating your drivers, especially your GPU drivers. I and others have run into issues from time to time where Windows installation of a GPU driver frak things up. Always check after a Windows update as it might get reset to default.

Click on Start then type in Control Panel.
Click on System
Click on Advanced System Settings
Click on Hardware Tab
Click on Device Installation Settings button
Select No (Your device may not work as expected)

Once completed, download new drivers, uninstall the currently installed and reinstall the drivers.

On the Nvidia UI, create a custom profile for MWO - 3D, Power Management Mode - set from adaptive to Max Performance.

Also download, unpack and reinstall directx 9c using dxsetup.exe. Missing or corrupted modules can cause issues, even if playing the game in dx11.

the warning about an unsupported card can be ignored, mostly ... unless your actually using an unsupported card, but the 1050 should be quite fine, as long as its actually the one being used ...

sounds to me like networking issues, of which can be many, varied, hard to nail, and difficult to tell ... if your using wifi, you can get stuck in that endless loading loop if your pc misses receiving the magic packet that tells it to move along, someone will probably talk about re-transmission, but the reality can be something else, especially in a noisy environment ... use a cable when you can, ethernet-over-power tends to be a really good choice these days, get an antenna if you must ... alot of the time the signal output by most routers is far beneath the capabilities ... just depends on where, your ISP, the modem, million other bits of blah, like regulatory compliance ...

if the game doesnt actually crash on you, than your logs will contain no *really* useful information, and dxdiag's might reveal one or two interesting pieces about your system ... but probably wont tell us any 'causes' ...

might be good if you can elaborate on the 'driver power state failure' error ... if its related to the video card, you might want to get some monitoring software, like msi afterburner, or hwinfo64, so you can see on screen while your playing what the temperatures and voltages are getting like .... sometimes increasing one value, or decreasing another will stop errors from appearing ....

Pheeew!

Thanks for the input guys.
I also had a lenghty back and forth messaging with Bobby Jubraj (PGI) regarding this tech issue. He was really helpful and took the time to help me, step by step.

Tried ALOT of things including some of the suggestions you guys had.

Heres some things I tried. Keep in mind there were NO option under Game Mode to turn something off.Odd I know. I also sent tons of Omicron files for them to check out, the crashdump file were to big to be sent so scrapped that.

Hey there,

Thanks a lot for taking the time to get in touch. When you get a chance can you please try heading to the following location and deleting the 'CACHE' Folder located here:
C:\Users\<USER NAME>\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\Shaders

Once this is completed, can you please try running through the following steps and let us know if this issue persists:
  • Access your NVIDIA Control panel
  • Click 'Manage 3D Settings'
  • Click the 'Program Settings' tab
  • If there isn't already an entry for MechWarrior Online in the dropdown, click the 'Add' button
  • Click 'Browse'
  • Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Bin32
  • Choose 'MWOClient'
  • If you run the 64-bit version of the client, navigate instead to C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Bin64
  • Choose 'MWOClient'
  • Select the relevant 'MWOClient' in the dropdown
  • In the 'Preferred Graphics Processor' dropdown, select 'High-performance NVIDIA processor'

Hey there,

Sorry to hear that you're still running into issues here. Hmm when you get a chance can you please try running through the following steps and let me know if this issue persists:

Open the Windows Settings Menu by typing 'Settings' in the Cortana search box on your PC
Type 'Gaming' in the 'Find a Setting' search bar
In the Gaming section, please select the 'Game Mode' tab on the left
In the Game Mode Screen, Toggle the Use Game Mode option to 'Off'

Once this is completed, please head to the location below on your PC and manually delete the 'Attributes.xml' file located here. Once this is completed, please try running MWO one more time and let me know if this issue persists.

C:\Users\<USER NAME>\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\Profiles\<PILOT NAME>

In the end. It seems for now that the simple trick to make MWO work were actually to change the global settings under the NVIDIA control panel to the NVIDIA processor with highest performance. I only had the MWO client exe file set to that. I understood it that the Global graphical settings totally overided the settings I made for MWO. Didnt fathom it before know, seems kinda obvious. I did manage to play MWO even with the integrated card, but froze on loading, due to not being stable enough.

But I will see in a few days and not get my hopes up yet.

https://www.howtogee...r-and-game-bar/

Enable Game Bar and start up MWO, where you sign in with your email addr/pw. Hit Window Key + G and keep it pressed while you navigate to the gear cog next to the = on the right side. Click on it. From there you can make sure Game Mode is off, DVR is off, uncheck everything on each tab. Close.

Go back into Gaming/Xbox and uncheck the Game Bar. Everything else should show unchecked.

To disable Game DVR, head to Settings > Gaming > Game DVR. Ensure the “Record in the background while I’m playing a game” option here is set to “Off”.

For low end systems running Windows 10, Game Mode enabled could benefit those systems some since background programs have less priority. It may not improve their max FPS but it could reduce the number of low FPS hits.

You have to re-enable it in the Settings, Gaming (Game Bar, etc, etc) then launch MWO log in first before hitting Windows + G. Then it will appear like this at the bottom portion of the MWO log in screen.

For higher end systems, most did not notice any changes but for a few it did generate gaming issues. Since they were not methodical about their testing, disabling gaming mode as well as the XBox items resolved any issues that may have pertained to those components. Imagine what sort of hit you would unknowingly take if your combo keystrokes started the DVR recording while playing a game.

Essentially, always the need to remove any possible unnecessary behaviors.
