As someone who likes challenges in games, i have to say that the match score requirement is kinda ********.

considering that the most efficient way to win a game is to deal pinpoint damage to the same location, it really makes no sense to require 2k damage in order to get the required match score needed in case of a loss.

It actually forces you to play in weird ways and is also bad for teamplay, as damaging an opponent instead of killing him quickly to potentialy save an ally means you are less likely to get a reward.

if objectives and assists/scouting would give much more score, it would be a lot better than it is now already.

I would agree that people that don't team up will suffer. People that group up and play as a team would find this challenge much more accessible.

This goes back to what I have said in the past, give scouting it's own match score criteria with 1 bag so that people don't do stupid things in scouting trying to grind out the 250.

If you want to tier it in invasion so that 180 gets you 1 bag and 250 gets you 2 bags (spitballing here), that's fine too. But even in a loss, if you are playing as a team you can still get 250 off helper stats because you are all working together.

Gee its almost like they are punishing solo players in a game mode that really requires teamwork... hmmmmmm

I like that idea newer players will just have to play more game but will still get a prize and enjoy the fun and it you don't want people just turn Scouting match score off or make it way to high so it cant be done then everyone will do Invision

You have to admit that it's a tough balance because they don't have a MM for FP, they don't have the population for a MM to work in FP...

So you are going to have people wandering in, thinking its gonna be like QP and its not... It most definitely is NOT like QP as teamwork is waaaaay more important.

Too many people ignore that warning about FP being more challenging than QP or think that they are doing "good enough" when they score higher dmg in FP than they would in QP when in actuality, if you divide their damage by 4 (mechs), <800 dmg doesn't look so good.

There are hitreg issues to be sure, especially with the servers being in North America and many players are international... but that's not a strictly FP issue...

I understand but if you are having that issue in FP, you'd be having that issue in QP too, right?

That's good for you because you have more damage also on clan mechs. You can reach a higher damage before killing an IS mech to reach a match score of 250. 😀

that's why when we faced 4 Bushwackers we never came close to score we should have our Stormcrow back

Okay, lets try this constructively... what mechs are you bringing to scouting? There are many players that would still not score 250 even with Stormcrows.

Personally, when I'm on my clan account (and going for high damage), its streaks or nothing and the Huntsman can do more than Crows in that regard...

played for several Hours Faction Play. It was a waste of time: 250 Match score is too much for playing with Pugs against organized Teams. PGI: if you got interest in keeping the game together, lower the needed score for the Pugs or soon the organized Teams are the only who are left in the Game. Oh, and do something with the matchmaker: bring Pug teams together which arent in a group and vice versa.

They probably can't safely implement the MatchMaker on CW/FW/FP right now. The population is too low. :(

On the other hand, they can definitely do something about Match Score Requirements for earning Loot Bags. Frankly, given how badly the Inner Sphere is abusing Tonnage, or an Organized Unit Premade is abusing Game Mechanics, or both in tandem, the following changes would keep CW/FW/FP from being a severe 'Ghost Town'...
  • 100 MS in a CW/FW/FP Match = 1 Loot Bag
  • 200 MS in a CW/FW/FP Match = 2 Loot Bags (including the one from reaching 100 MS)
...instead of people giving up completely. For a further explanation that others can reference on why the hard 250 MS minimum requirement is so bad for CW/FW/FP, please refer to my earlier post in this thread @ https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/260367-mwo-holiday-events/page__view__findpost__p__5980067 where I go into detail on that very issue. As a "Cliff's Notes" of that for quick notation, if PGI's Staff had really wanted people to flock to CW/FW/FP, they would never have continued to perpetrate the compounded Match Score damage for losing multiple Mechs in one match, particularly in combination with setting the bar so insanely high. <_<

By the way, for reference, the Two Previous Stocking Stuffer Events were NEVER configured to be such an insane painful headache to the brain. Back then, they only asked for 80 to 100 Match Score to earn a Loot Bag for a given Match in the Faction Queues. Sadly, since then, there have been too many whiners yelling for PGI to turn up the difficulty, and now PGI has listened at one of the worst times of year to be doing so. Unfortunately, this can only lead to MWO being further damaged by resentment from a reasonable chunk of its' own Community. -_-

@Shi No Kami: I seem to recall that in the distant past there was some event where the criteria for success was that you had to win, survive AND score at least one kill in several (20?) matches. If my recollection is not entirely false, I played over 40 games and succeeded exactly ZERO times.

I must have missed that one... that sounds... uniquely frustrating.

I had lots of luck of getting the 250 scores yesterday but still 250 FP match score is a bit on the high hand to grind out on 15 days together with the extra 100 quick play matches, People will get tired of it and just get burned out by doing this.

Puggs will try to do it a few matches and then just quit FP, I would say lower it to the same amount as quick play: 150 match score.

For a lot of people (mostly new ones) gonna have to grind hard to get the 150 score .
For me u can then even give only 1 bag instead of 2 for each time u reach this goal.

It won't work cuz with 150MS or anything low. Those who aren't interested in FP in the first place but want those goodie bags will still flock to Scouting and come to the forums to recommend farming Scouting missions for the goodie bags cuz it's easier to do it than in Invasion.

If PGI wants to encourage players to go to FP, dangling goodies is not the right approach. Instead, genuine fixes must take place, eg solo-only queue, balancing Siege Attack so that it's not stacked so heavily against attackers.

@All: Actually, there is a theoretically extremely easy way to make scouting impossible and still lower the score:

Require 5+ assists AND MS of, for example, 150+.

Not the most elegant solution, granted, but as far as I can tell, entirely feasible?

So far I've not seen the Event system do a combo requirement per item, so no I don't think it's possible. It's possible to do multiple per single Challenge, but not per item.
