I, too, like overly wide Omnimechs with locked, low-rating engines that are heavier than their Standard counterparts.

There are worthwhile IS Omnis. None of the Celestials fall into that category.

Be careful what you wish for, my friend.

Those mechs were only driven by insane cultists who declared war on the entire universe and lead directly to the deaths of hundreds of millions.

Why would you want to drive a machine associated with that faction?

The FedCom Civil war was already a mild shark jumping, Jihad was the absolute nadir of the franchise. Best we not even talk about it.

For me it has nothing to do with what faction the celestials belong to and more so their unique designs (plus they use new tech that we don't have i.e. compact fusion engines and ppc capacitors).

Honestly, it's way too wide, way too slow, and has way too many bits that stick out and demand to get shot. I'd rather they focus on IS/Clan mechs that would actually stand a chance at being decent. Buying a mech that looks cool but is hot garbage (hi Thanatos!) is not a mistake I would wish on anybody else.

I don't know, the Deva looks serviceable.

Two torso energy and a face cannon. Maybe for HPPCs.

Still has the same crummy geo, though.

Also, Toyama is not a WoB 'Mech, just one they used.

You are correct! Editing...

Built due to an awkward exchange of technology between the Free Worlds League and the Word of Blake, the Toyama was designed by Dr. Thaddeus Anable and then given to the Word of Blake through an agreement made by Captain-General Thomas Marik.

Well we're never getting melee, so does the retractable blade just become a new 'bolt on'.

Except is was being made at Gibson Fedeated Battlemechs, which was controlled by the WOB.

Gibson Federated BattleMechs is the subsidiary of Free Worlds Defense Industries responsible for most of the ground unit production.

Based on Gibson, it was taken over by the Word of Blake forces on that world and used as one of their primary military suppliers.[2] Funding from the Word allowed Gibson Federated to expand production, opening plants on Terra and Mars.[3] Gibson also formed Sekkaris Mekwerks in 3063 to create prototype designs equipped with weapons the Word had acquired from the Clans and other sources. The Celestial series OmniMechs were designed by Sekkaris, particularly their lead designer Dr. Devon Cortland.[4]

So built by the same factory producing Grand Crusader's, and named for Conrad Toyama, the successor to Jerome Blake. Maybe the design was 'given' to them, but it was still very much a WOB mech.

But it wasn't designed for them. They used it, but it's not one of their own designs.

Or shall we call the Annihilator a Clan 'Mech just because it was used primarily by the Clans?

It wasn't designed by them, just manufactured and used by them, not to mention named for the man who turned Comstar into a religion that ended in the jihad. I guess it goes under your description of 'given', since that seems to imply Thomas Marik let them have this design for there own use. Was Gibson not their base of operations and headquarters (until they took Terra) because it was given to them by Thomas Marik?

And yah, considering the Annihilator was only used by Wolf's Dragoons in the Inner Sphere, and even then was brought with them as a mistake, yah a clan mech, especially since it's original factory is on Strana Mechty. Is it an Inner Sphere mech, when no one had access to it or could make it outside of the Dragoons (and later Wolf Clan in exile)? In fact, it and a few other designs were considered 'mysteries' of the Dragoons when they first appeared because no one knew where those mechs came from.
